Impeccable interiors, sea-salted air and panoramic views over Woolacombe Bay make Tamarisk Beach House an idyllic retreat for families looking for luxury self-catering by the sea in North Devon. This chic sea-side home occupies an unrivalled coastal location in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where the ocean vista is ever-changing and ever-beautiful.
Perched in an enviable position, Tamarisk Beach House overlooks the award-winning golden sands and mellow beach-break of Woolacombe Bay, which wraps around this popular part of the North Devon coast. This 1930s home draws inspiration from the Arts and Crafts era, oozing style with flirts of art deco elegance and modern luxury; promising a luxury self-catering beach-side living with a difference. Tamarisk Beach House has opened its doors to a wealth of characters, from Hollywood film stars to American service personnel in the Second World War.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
On the ground floor there is a king-size bedroom, WC off the utility room and family bathroom. Upstairs, the master bedroom has an en suite bathroom with separate shower, and the pretty twin bedroom leads through to a third king-size bedroom, creating a cosy family wing with en suite shower room, perfect for parents to check on dreaming children before climbing into bed.
Surfers will be seduced by the Atlantic swells and plethora of excellent surf spots in the area, while rookies can hire a board from one of the friendly local surf schools and revel in the more gentle waves. Nature’s playground provides activities for the whole family; cycle the Tarka Trail, fly kites across the three mile stretch of golden sands on your doorstep or tiptoe through the purple heathers of Exmoor's National Park, listening out for the rutting stags as they lock antlers, sending echos through the magical woodland.
Spend balmy days relaxing on the beach or in the secluded tiered garden with a good book in hand, while children spy on pods of dolphins frolicking in the distant surf. When the English weather turns tropical, gather around the dining table with a banquet of cheese and wine as you prepare for dramatic thunderstorms to illuminate the dusk's violet sky, where bright sheets of lightening are mirrored on the ocean's choppy surface.
There is ample parking for up to two cars on the driveway and an extra car on the road. The drive is shared with the owner who lives next door in the adjoining property. Tamarisk Beach House is well-equipped, with dishwasher, two fridges, freezer, electric oven, microwave, washing machine and tumble drier.

Property Consultant Clare says
Tamarisk Beach House is finished to the highest of standards, I adore the 1930s charm which resonates throughout. It´s no wonder Lady Chichester chose Woolacombe as her summer holiday residence all those years ago.

FOOD AND DRINK
The contemporary kitchen is ergonomically designed to ensure cooking is an absolute pleasure. The stylish breakfast bar is a brilliant spot for children to help grown-ups prepare blueberry pancakes, for a blissful brunch al fresco on the balcony overlooking the Atlantic ocean.
If you'd rather spend your luxury self-catering break indulging in the little luxuries, let an in-house chef prepare a mouth-watering meal for you and your party (on prior request and subject to an additional cost).
Whether you fancy fine dining or classic fish, chips and mushy peas, Woolacombe offers something to suit every palate. Noel Corston @EX34 provides great food in a beautiful barn conversion, just a short walk from Tamarisk Beach House (meaning you can enjoy a few glasses of the local tipple too)! Venture a little further into nearby Ilfracombe and find No. 11 The Quay, where you can enjoy delectable dishes with sea views and a unique opportunity to dine alongside original artworks by acclaimed artist Damien Hirst.
