Our Take

Property Owner Mark says

I used to come to Camber as a boy and never dreamed one day I would be lucky enough to own a house on the beach. The simple pleasures I enjoyed then are the same today. There´s nothing quite like the smell of sea air, the sand between your toes and the delight in watching the ever changing seascape.

Out & About

Discover places to see and things to do whilst in and around Camber Sands, East Sussex to truly enhance your stay come rain or shine!

Rye and Camber Nearby Rye is an interesting historical harbour town with an array of boutique shops and delicious eateries including The George and Webbes at The Fish Café; well worth a visit!

Hastings This cosmopolitan town has a strong local arts community and is home to the largest beach-launched fishing fleet in Europe, as well as the remains of the first castle in England to be built by William the Conqueror and a preserved Old Town.

The Ghosts of Dover For a great family day out, visit Dover and its magnificent castle. Explore the atmospheric Secret Wartime Tunnels including a recreation of the Dunkirk evacuation. Children will love to run around the winding tunnels and hunt out ghostly ghouls at Kent’s most haunted castle.

Horse Lovers Many people who have a love of all things horsey (and even those who don't!) have often dreamt of galloping across golden sands through crested shore-breaks with the wind in their hair and sea-spray on their face. Why not make this a reality whilst staying at Barefoot Beach House?

Samphire Hoe This intriguing piece of land was created using 4.9 million cubic metres of chalk marl during the construction of the Channel Tunnel. The 30 hectare coastal country park has something for everyone: a stunning location, wildflowers, birds, sea angling and ice creams for the children!

Full Steam Ahead! A trip on the Kent and East Sussex Railway is a great day out! It travels between Tenterden in the Kentish Weald and the 600-year-old Bodiam Castle in East Sussex. The Tenterden station is also home to a railway museum.

Beach Foraging Forage for the shells and washed up sea life which can be found on the beach including razor shells, skate's egg cases (often known as ‘Mermaids purses’), and the empty cases of whelk’s eggs. If you are lucky you may see the flash of a lizard's tail! Look out for trails that the lizards leave behind in the sand.

Nearest beach: Barefoot Beach House is positioned right on Camber Sands so, a pebble's throw from your door, it will be the best front garden you ever had!

The open plan modern kitchen and dining area makes culinary adventures a sociable event where all the family can come together to prepare delicious hearty suppers. Salty seadogs might prefer cooking al fresco out on the fire pit; the freshest catch of the day tastes best when eaten outdoors with the ocean providing the soundtrack.

In-House Cuisine

From a catered celebratory dinner for one night of your stay to home-cooked meals throughout, let an in-house chef prepare a mouth-watering meal for you and your party (on prior request and subject to an addition cost).

Eating Out

Nearby Rye plays host to several excellent eateries including Webbes at The Fish Café and The George, a favourite for Hollywood celebrities such as George Clooney, Matt Damon and Bill Murray who have all eaten here. For a taste of the seaside, head to Marino’s on Rye High Street for the best fish and chips in the area. Just a five minute walk from the house is The Gallivant, one of only a handful of restaurants to be awarded two AA rosettes in the South East of England.
