Ammonite | Luxury Beach Cabin | Winchelsea Beach, Rye

Shirking convention and throwing caution to prescribed good taste, this reclaimed 1930's cabin is a refreshing escape from the humdrum of city living. Luxuriously understated from top to toe and lovingly created by interior design duo Atlanta Bartlett and Dave Coote of Pale & Interesting fame, Ammonite's interiors are a rebellious outcry against the shiny and new. A sumptuous and informal abode where families can fully relax into life on the East Sussex coast.

Self-catering luxury cabin for hire near Winchelsea Beach, East Sussex

Introduction

Sitting just a short drive from the shores of Winchelsea Beach, Ammonite affords a true escape from the everyday. Inside, a lofty ceiling and whitewashed wood make for a bright and breezy atmosphere, while soft sheepskins and a woodburning stove ensure comfort is at the very heart of this beach-style cabin. Outside, the private garden is surrounded by a picture-perfect white picket fence and wraparound deck; affording a perfectly rustic spot for cooling sundowners on those long summer evenings.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms

Simple, elegant and awash with soothing chalky tones, the master bedroom flaunts a squishy double bed settled under the glitter of a vintage, Gatsby-inspired chandelier. There is one further double bedroom, with a zip-and-link king-size bed and exposed wooden headboards and one double bunk room with built-in beds. Ammonite has one family bathroom with bath and shower and one separate WC.

Outside

Perched on the steps of the decking with hands cradling a steaming cup of tea, enjoy the break of day and the rise of the dawn chorus as the brood sleep the morning away. After a breakfast of crumpets smothered with butter on the outdoor dining area, gather together towels and a picnic hamper and head to Winchelsea beach for a good old fashioned day by the seaside. If it’s possible to get bored of snoozing the days away with feet buried in the sand, the charming town of Rye is just a short drive away.

For Relaxation

The East Sussex coastline is brimming with golden stretches of sand, waterside eateries and quaint villages littered with antique shops and boutique craft stores. After a morning browsing Rye’s pretty, crooked streets, settle under an umbrella on Camber Sands while the children build sandcastles and race against the tide. When the summer days fade and night begins to fall, wrap shoulders in blankets and sip crisp white wine on the decking as stars shimmer overhead.

Practicalities

There is private off-road parking for four cars. The open-plan kitchen is well-equipped with a Smeg cooker, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washer-dryer.
