Luxury self-catering barn conversion with stables near Exmoor, Somerset

Proudly stood within Exmoor's postcard-perfect landscape is this dashingly handsome homestay; a luxury self-catering hideaway that offers guests a slice of idyllic country life in rural Somerset. A hidden jewel buried within the hay stack of Exmoor National Park, Huckleberry offers a retreat for those wanting a unique countryside escape with a difference. Inside it’s all oak beams and vintage leather furniture saddled-up with shaggy animal hides, whilst the suspended veranda outside is perfect for gazing out over the otherworldly landscape of Exmoor beyond.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms
When it’s time to hit the hay at Huckleberry, ascend the stairs to where the two splendidly dressed bedrooms await, both of which brag gorgeous views and king-sized beds adorned in luxurious linens and soft sheepskins. Rest and rejuvenation is top priority here, so pamper yourselves silly in the sleek and stylish en suites; one features a large shower whilst the other has a soak-worthy tub (big enough for two) where you may even spot a shooting star through the skylights above!

Set within a verdant valley to rival Big Sky Country, the suspended decking over the pond below offers views that will leave you speechless. Summer afternoons are best spent getting tipsy on Pimm’s and lemonade in the sunshine and being amused by the donkeys bumbling along in the near distance. If you can tear yourself away from your luxury homestay, Huckleberry is also in prime location for more heart racing activities such as mountain biking, rock climbing and galloping horseback across the 300 miles of bridleways on Exmoor, there are also stables on site for up to three horses. Take a breather in the nearest town of Dulverton, which hosts a relaxed country-town vibe and award-winning eateries aplenty.

For Relaxation
After yomping across the green and purple-flecked pastures of Exmoor National Park, hang up your Hunters and retire by Huckleberry’s flickering fire. Couples can take it in turns to cook-up a storm in the open-plan kitchen whilst the other pops open a bottle and sets up a board game in the sitting area. Once dusk has fallen, wrap up in a snug blanket and step outside to be greeted by a sky of glistening stars overhead. For the more adventurous, take a drive onto the moorland – a designated International Dark Sky Reserve frequently known to host spectacular meteor showers.

There is parking for two cars. Parents are advised to supervise children at all times on the balcony. Huckleberry is well-equipped with a gas Aga and hob, microwave and washer/dryer, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The property owners live opposite.
