Prepare to be dumbfounded by the magnetism of Bohème; a 16th century former cider press turned boho farmhouse. This large luxury self-catering home sits just over the Devon border in Somerset and blends original character features with exceptional interior design in the most fashionable modern-rustic manner, all wrapped up in 100 acres of pastoral paradise.
Nestled within a secluded smallholding near the Devon and Somerset border sits Bohème; a luxury large self-catering home designed with the grandest of gatherings in mind. With its neighbouring hamlets flaunting such delightful names as Appley and Kittisford, the village of Stawley is the picture of a bucolic idyll. The renovations of this boho farmhouse included eco-friendly enhancements and local materials to retain a pared-back, rough luxe style. Hidden behind the three metre-high reclaimed oak front doors awaits a ‘land of milk and honey’-type retreat, where both old fashioned and modern day luxuries can be found in abundance.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Arranged in a unique horseshoe formation, nine beautifully-appointed bedrooms sit across from the cool and cavernous living area. The ground floor has four bedrooms, one WC and two family bathrooms with separate showers. Upstairs there are two bedrooms with en suite shower rooms, one bedroom with an en suite bathroom and two bedrooms sharing a family bathroom. The tenth bedroom is a secret bolthole with private shower and views over the cinema room. What they all have in common is fine white linens and soft plump pillows, ensuring deep sleeps all around.
On a sunny weekend, take the party to the Quantock Hills armed with an icebox of chilled champagne bottles and wicker baskets overflowing with juicy strawberries and clotted cream. Follow in the footsteps of Coleridge and Wordsworth as you ramble across this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to find a hidden spot for a wild swim and a picnic by one of the waterfalls. Back at the ranch, the olive tree courtyard will provide a sophisticated playground for the evening’s entertainment; think smoky barbecue feasts, games of skittles and barn dancing in the moonlight.
A morning swim in the 15 metre indoor heated pool followed by a spot of yoga on the lawn is a fine way to start the day here at Bohème. The rolling country vistas and fresh Somerset air is sure to rest and rejuvenate all those who stay. Families and large groups will find their own little piece of heaven right on the doorstep; whether it be in the sweet harmony from the 27 species of birds which flit about the farm, in a peaceful hour spent reading a book under the olive trees, or perhaps in the taste of your own homemade pie made with berries plucked from the hedgerows. The cinema room invites the whole group to come together for dramatic movie nights by the flickering open fire.
Up to five cars can park outside the farmhouse. The courtyard garden is fully enclosed with al fresco seating and a barbecue. The friendly owners live next door. The large kitchen has a double and single oven with seven hobs in total, two American fridge freezers and two dishwashers. There are two washer dryers in the utility room.

Property Owner Minky says
As the evening sun goes down, I love the way the sunlight reflects on the pool. The Somerset stone wall glistens with the water ripples which exaggerates the stunning view and peaceful position of the property; a perfect time to relax, unwind and enjoy a sun downer with friends and family.

FOOD AND DRINK
Almost every component of this unique barn renovation was sourced locally; from the stone to the wood and spring-fed pool, so be inspired by the owner’s ethos and eat farm fresh local produce on your holiday. A little drive but worth a visit is Darts Farm in Topsham, recently awarded Best Farm Shop in the UK. Nearer home, Appley has a sweet village shop for all the essentials, and when in season the owners invite you to pick apples, pears and berries from the pool garden.
If you'd rather spend your self-catering break indulging in the little luxuries, let an in-house chef prepare a mouth-watering meal for you and your party (on prior request and subject to an additional cost).
In a pretty setting, White Post Nursery is great for a light lunch, loose leaf tea or fresh coffee served from a log cabin. For a sophisticated supper head to Mint and Mustard, described by Tatler as "knock-your-socks-off-brilliant".
