Weddings at Romany

Romney Marsh, NR Rye, Kent, UK

For the dreamers and the bohemians, here is a wedding venue where barefooted brides and free-spirited grooms will feel perfectly at ease. Comprising a New Hampton style barn draped in greenery, a wildflower meadow and a hot tub surrounded by sweet-scented herbs; Romany was designed with drawn-out weekends and elopement weddings in mind.

The white-on-white nature of Romany make its ceremony barn and surroundings a blank canvas for couples looking to create a wedding celebration which perfectly reflects their personality. Exclusive hire of this unique venue on Romney Marsh near Rye allows imagination to run free, and whether a tipi-tent reception with signature cocktails and an acoustic guitar or a marquee for a four-course wedding breakfast and string quartet, magic is sure to ensue.

Sleeping just two in a romantic, reclaimed cabin, couples can sneak off at the end of the night to collapse into the four-poster bed without having to leave the premises. Indulge in a late-night hot tub under the stars as guests depart and music fades, before waking to the sound of birdsong on your first day as a married couple. On the morning of the wedding, shirk tradition and prepare for the day together, giggling and whispering along the way.

Wind through the wildflowers on mown paths to the airstream or white picket fences, where ever-lasting photos of the couple will take on a vintage flare. With a vegetable patch and herb garden settled within the grounds, lovers can immerse themselves into The Good Life with ease; a slow breakfast of scrambled eggs sprinkled with freshly chopped chives surrounded by bridesmaids and accompanied by bubbling Buck's Fizz will be a fine way to start the celebrations.

From the owner

“Situated down a country track in the middle of Romney Marsh, known for its big skies, natural beauty, history, coastline and sheep, Romany is a place of unique beauty where you are woken by the sound of birdsong, the rustle of the tall poplar trees and the joyous laughing frogs.”

From the owner

Welcome to our beautiful wedding cabin, we hope you love it as much as we do. It is perfectly situated for you to enjoy the stunning countryside of Romney Marsh, also known as the Fifth Continent, with its wide-open vistas, special microclimate and proximity to miles of beautiful coastline.

We have lived on Romney Marsh for 15 years and we totally adore it - at times it is like an onslaught to your senses with fragrant smells of rape fields in the spring, wheat in the summer and the rich marshy earth in the winter.

In the summer we wake up every day to the sound of birdsong, the roar of the poplar trees and the extraordinary 'chorus' of the marsh frogs resounding over across the marsh.

Romney Marsh is a nature lovers paradise; bats, foxes, badgers, mink, stoats, water voles, hares, field mice and moles are all welcome residents here while birdwatchers flock from all over the world to catch a sight of the amazing (and some very rare) array of birdlife from Marsh harriers, Kestrels, Nightingales, Cuckoos, Herons, Cormorants, woodpeckers and Purple Herons.

We feel so fortunate to have this all in our back garden.

Guest Testimonials

Romany is completely hidden in the middle of the countryside. As we drove there to visit the roads got narrower until we were crossing beautiful farmer’s field filled with yellow rapeseed and red poppies. There were baby lambs, bunny rabbits hopping across the road and Kent’s famous green parakeets swooping down from the trees. I fell in love with the beauty of the place before we even arrived really! Once I saw the stunning New England-style barn, the beautiful sunlit meadow and where we would pitch our marquee, I knew I had found my venue!

I just want to thank the owners of Romany for making our special day truly special! The setting and the weather just made for a perfect and amazing day!
