Set on the West Wales Heritage Coast in five acres of enchanting gardens, weddings at Florin unfold beneath wide skies and wild blooms. Whether you’re planning an intimate elopement within the castle-like manor or a grand garden celebration, take exclusive use of this Ceredigion home and create a wedding that feels anything but ordinary.
Introduction
Florin is a unique manor exuding style and singular character. With bespoke service and generous indoor and outdoor spaces, every celebration – from candlelit elopements to lavish soirées – feels entirely personal. Inside, the flamboyant space can host up to 50 guests for ceremonies shared with your closest loved ones. For larger gatherings, a marquee on the lawn welcomes up to 150 in romantic gardens dotted with fountains and hidden pathways. And for those exchanging vows in one of the historic Welsh churches nearby, returning to Florin feels like stepping into wonderland.
Inside
This Victorian country house, with its soaring ceilings, open fires and period features, is opulently decorated throughout – with just the right touch of eccentricity to inspire a playful atmosphere. The light-filled conservatory can be shared with the dining room, creating a stylish space for a sit-down wedding breakfast in any season, with catering at an additional cost. When the candles burn low, overnight guests can retreat to the library for a nightcap or one of seven spacious bedrooms, sleeping up to 14 across two floors. Each room is elegantly styled, with views over manicured gardens.
Outside
The tree-lined driveway leading to Florin provides a dramatic entrance for the wedding cars and sets the tone for the magic to come. Secluded gardens unfurl with romantic corners and winding walkways, offering an idyllic backdrop for photographs. It’s also possible to sneak off to the hidden treehouse for a quiet moment or gather a group in the garden lodge, where a wood-fired pizza oven brings people together for relaxed feasts. After hush settles over the grounds, you might choose to slip into the bubbling hot tub beneath the stars or head towards the golden sands of Poppit Beach for a moonlight dip in the sea.

From the owner
“The gardens are simply exquisite and almost have a romantic ´Alice in Wonderland´ feel to them; from the ornate fountains to the secret gardens and magical pathways entwined with roses, Florin is the perfect base for wedding celebrations in west Wales!”

The house was built back in the 1890s by Lloyd Daniel Lewis the Bishop of Bangor; the curate of Dolgellau and headmaster of the grammar school. A pioneer, he managed schools in Bangor and Brecon and did much to raise the standard of work, raise the number of pupils and was instrumental in helping promising boys get on in life.
Daniel Lewis was known as the first Welsh-speaking Bishop in 200 years, and his own hymn book ‘Emyniadur yr Eglwys’ is still used to this day; we like to think that he wrote some of his beautiful hymns beneath Florin’s own roof! The house later passed hands, and was owned by William Lewis, a local solicitor who was related to the Liverpool based Lewis’s chain of department stores; the very chain that acquired Selfridges of Oxford Street in 1951.
Since 2012 the house has passed into its most recent set of loving hands: our family. When decorating Florin, we wanted to create a fun environment for adults, children and big kids alike. We fused the traditional features of this historical home with some modern and personal touches. It’s perfect for both quiet getaways and hosting big celebrations, and in recent years has made a stunning manor house wedding venue for some very special couples.

We couldn´t have wished for a better venue for our wedding. We had the best day in the most beautiful venue, with the most perfect weather. Florin will now have a very special place in our hearts. Thank you all so much.
Florin was a very happy find for our special event and the owners help and support was tremendous and hugely appreciated. The facilities of the pool table, the hot tub and the garden room were fabulous. I already have a room earmarked for one at home when we finish our home renovations! We had one of our evening meals in the garden room and it felt just like a ski lodge. There are just so many areas that guests can use; for a small group there is always somewhere you can go if you want to have a quiet moment, a chat or a stroll. Equally, others can be having a more gregarious moment in the next room.
Thank you all so very much! Our wedding was perfect; everyone loved the house as much as we did. The catering was outstanding and the conservatory was the perfect setting. We had our evening reception in the cabin, celebrated with local beer, had the most fantastic wedding cake and the local Reverend was so helpful in organising our ceremony; he´s a real character! Everything here at Florin has been thought out so well, nothing was too much trouble. We are sad to be leaving and really hope to be back soon. Thank you for an amazing stay.
