Atticus | Luxury Self-Catering Holiday Home | Burford, Cotswolds

Treacle-toned Cotswold stone, iron gates and heavy antique double doors hint at this Grade-II listed home’s colourful past. Once a court house and later a jail, Atticus can be found jostling amongst a row of period buildings dating back to Tudor times at the upper end of Burford high street. Magnificently restored in all its glory, luxury self-catering holidays in the Cotswolds don't get much more golden than this.

Luxury self-catering holiday home in Burford, Cotswolds

Locked in a neat chain of attractive honey-hued cottages at the end of Burford's iconic high street, Atticus is a sanctuary for groups of families and friends who crave an authentic luxury self-catering escape in the Cotswolds. Steeped in style and bursting with original features, including the tremendous old court room, Atticus promises guests a relaxing retreat in the crease of one of England's most charming folds.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms

Four timelessly designed bedrooms all boast views over the terraced garden, each exquisitely finished to ensure every guest sleeps in the lap of luxury. The en suite king-size bedroom with bath and separate shower can be found on the ground floor, whilst the first floor is home to the second king-size bedroom with en suite shower. At the top of the house, the third king-size bedroom and the super king-size zip-and-link bedroom together share a stylish monochrome shower room.

Step through Atticus' stained glass back door to discover the private terraced garden, where the babbling water feature creates a soothing alfresco oasis perfect for summertime antics. Sink into the rattan chairs, sip on Cotswolds Brew cider (brewed in nearby Bourton-on-the-Water) and enjoy a feast of local delicacies. When the sun dips below the skyline of charming Cotswolds cottage rooftops, gather the party to toast marshmallows around the glowing fire pit.

For Relaxation

Begin your day with an early morning stroll along Burford's famous old high street and see how the antique boutiques, quaint tearooms and historic town houses peddle nostalgia throughout this glorious ancient wool town. Hire bicycles and blaze along the river Windrush, or visit iconic Cotswold villages such as Bibury, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water for a moreish taste of olde-worlde England.

Atticus is well-equipped with a Range oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine and dryer. There is free parking available nearby after guests have unloaded luggage at the house.

Our Take

Property Owner Steven says

We were delighted when we found the house and just love spending time with our daughters and grandchildren here. The house is light, free-flowing and, whilst Grade-II listed, has a modern twist hidden behind the traditional Cotswolds stone façade.
