Thank you for a wonderful stay at Florin. The house and grounds are stunning. We especially loved the ´Party House´ and hot tub. We had delicious pizzas and a BBQ too. A truly unique stay! Thanks.
This house is the most beautiful, magical setting for the most amazing weekend away for us girls! The grounds are stunning, the house itself is like stepping into the pages of a book. Our Bride to be was amazed by the property as it was a surprise for her. We had gorgeous weather so took full advantage of the hut, lawn, and hot tub areas. This has been such a lovely weekend that all 12 of us will remember for life. Thank you again.
What a fantastic week we´ve had! Everything was fabulous for our very large family group. Adults and children all had great fun, can´t thank the owner and the team enough.
Thank you so much for a great stay, we have had so much fun! The hot tub was great and everything was just gorgeous. You will certainly leave Florin feeling extremely relaxed and refreshed!
Florin felt like we were stepping into a fairytale - a special and magical place. We loved everything about this outstanding house and the gorgeous grounds it´s set in. In what has been the strangest of times, Florin proved the perfect setting for us to gather together and create fabulous memories that will stay with each and every one of us for the rest of our lives. We were sad to leave to be honest, but happy in the knowledge that some day we may be able to return to somewhere we fell in love with - a unique and truly wonderful home.
This was our second visit to Florin and it was just as stunning as the first. After a pretty horrendous drive from London, arriving to a house with fires lit, and our shopping already unpacked was an absolute relief, everyone felt like they were coming home. The ´hut´ is a fantastic addition and beautifully finished, and would be particularly incredible in the summer. We love the personal touches from the owners too, and the Saturday bacon delivery. The beds are insane, like sleeping on clouds. We loved it!
Everything about our stay was phenomenal! Florin ticked every single box for me and was the perfect venue for making my partner´s surprise birthday an incredible experience. The location, quality, facilities and finishing touches everything were above and beyond! As well as the property being perfect, having the opportunity to meet the owner was extra special, they are wonderful. The owner showed us around the property and it was lovely to meet a part of the family behind the house! Thank you for taking the time to do this.
Absolutely brilliant property, fantastic location, really wonderful place to stay and the owner was exceptionally friendly and welcoming.
A fantastic property. Everyone really enjoyed their stay and we had a wonderful time celebrating at the property. We would love to come back again one day.
Many thanks for the fantastic hospitality. Great house, awesome facilities and such welcoming people. We will be back!
A fab house, perfect for a big birthday celebration with your nearest and dearest. Fancy dress on the Saturday night was hilarious! We had superb food cooked by Tom Holden catering! The house is superbly equipped, everything you could ever need is here and in plentiful quantities. A really chilled and relaxed weekend, thanks so much for having us as your guests, we have had a weekend to remember!
Florin was a wonderful house and the owners were extremely hospitable and always available to help if there was a problem or a question. The house had everything one could wish for and the little thoughtful details were greatly appreciated.
A wonderful house! Many thanks for opening the doors of this most amazing building, we loved our stay.
Florin was just simply a very beautiful house and really exceeded our expectations in every way. The outdoor eating area is stunning. The owners who we met were lovely and simply could not do enough in the run up to our stay to ensure we had a very special time.
Fabulous period property in an amazing setting and fabulous grounds. Basically it had it all! Especially as we had our Texan sister-in-law with us who was blown away by the history and style of Florin.
We all spent a really wonderful and unforgettable weekend at ´Florin´ and perhaps you could pass on our thanks to the owners for all the extra little touches that made our stay so extra special.
The property itself is stunning, and with the grounds around it as well, it is a fantastic, private location. The owner of the property met us with the keys on arrival and immediately made us feel at home. There was nothing he could not help us with and he was a pleasure to deal with. I will highly recommend this property to my friends and family.
The property was lovely and far better than we had expected. We are very pleased. The owner was very helpful and always available if required.
We had a family get together at The Florin for my daughters 40th. Ages from 14yrs to mid 80s and we all had a fantastic time. The house was fabulous, the owners very kind and helpful. A lovely welcome on arrival. All the little extras, the Hamper, the bacon, the bread, the cakes. It was all delightful. Nice and clean too. Will certainly use U.H.S. again. Straight forward and easy to book, pleasant and agreeable service.
The owners were most helpful and made us most welcome. We were made to feel very special. The many little extras like the cakes for tea on arrival, the delivery of bacon from the butcher for our breakfast next morning and the beautifully presented hamper were a joy to receive. It was all tip top and perfect. Left us all with smiles on our faces.

“Our gardens are simply exquisite and definitely have a romantic ´Alice in Wonderland´ feel to them; from the ornate fountains to the secret gardens and magical pathways entwined with roses, you can almost expect to turn the corner and see the Mad Hatter´s tea party in full swing!”
The house was built back in the 1890s by Lloyd Daniel Lewis, the Bishop of Bangor. Ordained in 1867, he played an instrumental role in Dolgellau Grammar School as well as schools in Bangor and Brecon. He was known as the first Welsh-speaking Bishop in 200 years, and his own hymn book ‘Emyniadur yr Eglwys’ is still used to this day; we like to think that he wrote some of his beautiful hymns beneath our very own roof!
The house was later owned by William Lewis, a local solicitor who was related to the Liverpool based Lewis’ chain of department stores, the very chain that acquired Selfridges of Oxford Street in 1951. Since 2012 the house has passed into its most recent set of loving hands.
When decorating the house, we wanted to create a fun environment for adults, children and big-kids alike! We fused the traditional features of this historical home with some modern and personal touches: there is a Welsh dresser that has been passed down to the daughter in the family for five generations, and china that my grandmother bought in auctions, all of which is mixed with French antiques and contemporary pieces.
