Nestled in the golden dunes of Holywell Bay, these twin beach huts from the 1930s offer a truly unique self-catering stay on the north coast of Cornwall. The Limit Beach Hut in Holywell Bay

Introduction

With two iconic clapboard beach huts flanking a luxurious outdoor living room, life at The Limit was made with lovers in mind. The hard-to-drag-yourself-away-from bedroom, which peeks over the sand to the sea of Holywell Bay, is filled with soft fabrics and a deep bed slumbering under the stars. Sip breakfast mimosas in the hot tub in the Cornish sun, watch clouds roll from the horizon into the night from the roaring fire pit or simply snuggle too close to the wood burner when the seasons change. Whatever the occasion, weather or time of year, one thing is for certain at The Limit; no one else in the world exists apart from you, your beau and the birds soaring across the view.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms

Slip into sweet dreams in the gentle tones of The Limit’s king-size bedroom where natural colours seamlessly blend with the dunes outside and subtle gold flourishes compliment a wash of sunshine-yellow gorse flowers flooding the landscape from January to July. Floor-to-ceiling windows afford the luxury of viewing rolling dunes and a sea horizon over breakfast in bed, while the walk-in shower, complete with thick, soft towels ensure a sumptuous pampering experience.

Outside

Set in two acres of overgrown and private grounds, The Limit (which once featured on George Clark’s Amazing Spaces!) has outdoor space a-plenty. The spacious al fresco living room is perfect for toasting marshmallows on the fire pit or forgetting the rest of the world with romantic sundowners under festoon lights. Spread out on blankets in the large lower garden at the bottom of the steps, or soak up the heat in the sheltered suntrap behind the kitchen and lounge hut. Of course, any stay here wouldn’t be complete without lengthy conversations and giggles under the bubbles of the hot tub, with sea views and sunsets all but guaranteed.

For Relaxation

Every moment spent at The Limit is a moment that lingers forever. Eat buttery pastries in the sun over coffee before strolling across the dunes to the waves beyond; at night, recline in an orange dusk with no agenda but good conversation and a bottle of wine. Winter may bring shorter days, but also an opportunity to bypass life and cosy down under thick blankets and churning skies. When (or if) you decide to leave this sanctuary, there are an abundance of restaurants and traditional Cornish inns within a short drive.

Practicalities

There is parking for two cars available outside the beach huts. The Limit has a washing machine, microwave, dishwasher, hob and fan oven.
