If your dream escape features simple pleasures such as wild swimming, fine dining and listening to vinyl records by the fire, then this Scandi-inspired luxury modern beach house in Porthleven will be one to tick off the bucket list. Delphin is set in a sheltered clifftop spot above a huge sweeping bay between Marazion and the Lizard Peninsula in west Cornwall.
Delphin is a sublime coastal retreat perfect for those planning a luxury surf break, unique honeymoon or a beach proposal to rival any. This luxury modern beach house has weathered the storms for decades, enjoying an enviable cliff top position just a mile from the charming harbour town of Porthleven in west Cornwall. Glass-fronted with clean, coastal interiors, Delphin exudes the coolness of a Byron Bay beach house with all the class of a beautiful English home.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
In homage to its birthdate, the owners chose a king-size Smoke bed designed with 1950s Berlin in mind. There is no better way to toast the holiday than with a champagne breakfast in bed! With floor-to-ceiling sea views, couples will love lazy mornings entwined between the sheets spotting seals, dolphins and even basking sharks in the warmer months. The gleaming en suite bathroom features a bath with rainfall shower.
The South West Coast Path runs directly behind the house, taking ramblers on a magical journey through the Penrose Estate on to Cornwall’s largest natural lake Loe Pool and Carminowe Creek - a wild swimmer’s dream. Porthleven remains a lesser-known holiday destination, but in summer the Cornish town attracts foodies and yachties who know its secret. When not adventuring on the coast, enjoy Porthleven’s trendy food hangouts such as award-winning Kota (meaning shellfish in Maori – a clue to the menu!) and its laid-back sister restaurant Kota Kai in the harbour.
The coastal hues of the contemporary white-focussed palette create a calming, beachy vibe all year round. Long summer days at Delphin are best spent walking barefoot along Loe Bar Beach and sourcing the best local produce to eat al fresco on the deck. Spend downtime painting the landscape or foraging for mussels to cook with Cornish cream back at the house. The bathtub and double-side fireplace will provide two of the finest holiday luxuries in the winter months.
Parking for one car on the driveway. Please note the garden is not enclosed and leads down to the cliff. Delphin has all the essentials including an electric oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave, washer-dryer and larder fridge with ice box.

Property Owner Michelle says
My favourite view from our Cornish beach house is through the round window overlooking the coast path. As the path ascends a steep tor, it then disappears over it into the National Trust´s Penrose Estate. Cows and sheep appear over the hill as do walkers and their dogs, it´s beautiful to watch.

FOOD AND DRINK
Luxury self-catering breaks have never been so tempting as they now are in Cornwall. With a great variety of fresh, local food on offer in almost every village corner or roadside stall, the fun lies in finding the best ingredients and thinking up innovative ways to cook with them. Head to Truro Farmer's Market on Saturdays and Wednesdays, or for even more local produce there is the No.12 deli in Porthleven.
If you'd rather spend your luxury self-catering break indulging in the little luxuries, let an in-house chef prepare a mouth-watering meal for you and your partner (on prior request and subject to an additional cost).
In recent years Porthleven has become quite the foodie's Mecca and the town now hosts one of Cornwall's best food festivals, attracting in excess of 30,000 visitors! Favourite dine-out destinations include The Square at Porthleven, Amelies, Kota (meaning shellfish in Maori) and it's more relaxed sister restaurant Kota Kai.
