Approached through a meadow of buttercups, bluebells and pink campion, Little Otterling is hunkered down on the banks of the River Tamar in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Devon/Cornwall border. This luxury self-catering cottage in the Tamar Valley is nestled alongside miles of stunning river frontage, where the lucky among you might even glimpse shy Mr Otter fishing along the riverbanks.
Little Otterling (once part of the Duke of Bedford estate) is surrounded by nature deep within Clitters Wood close to Gunnislake, and boasts beautiful views of the weir with the river gently meandering alongside. The stylish interiors fuse a rough luxe country vibe with an urban chicness to bring a boutique flavour to this traditional stone cottage, and ensure that couples can enjoy a self-catering countryside retreat immersed in luxury in all seasons. With a country club and health spa guest pass included, the most blissful break awaits!
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
After an action-packed day exploring the local delights on offer at Little Otterling, climb the unique 'pig's tail' staircase to the bright and airy king-size bedroom, where cloudburst pillows and the softest duckdown duvet promises a deep and uninterrupted night's sleep with only the distant hoot of the owls in the wood to disturb. The modern bathroom continues the urban-style throughout, with heated towel rail, waterfall taps and a deep tub with shower over - the perfect place to pamper!
The Tamar Valley is a very special corner of Cornwall where the friendly villages and stunning natural surroundings combine to create a blissful olde worlde charm all of its own. Sit awhile and listen to the birds twittering in the trees and watch the fish making their way upriver at this haven surrounded by wildlife. This luxury self-catering cottage is surrounded by wild meadows and sheltered by the valley; days are best spent sunken into the cosy sun loungers on the sophisticated slate patio area outside with a glass of Cornish cyder, before the sun bids adieu and sinks behind the woods.
There's no better way of exploring the Tamar Valley than packing up a picnic, hiring a canoe, and setting off down on your very own river adventure. Take a journey from the historic quay at Cotehele into the wilds of the upper tidal limits before returning to your riverside hideaway for a romantic candlelit supper. Those staying at Little Otterling also have a guest pass for China Fleet Country Club, complete with barn spa and heath suite. In winter months snuggle up in front of the woodburner with a glass of red talking into the wee hours, or explore the wild and rugged tors and valleys of nearby Dartmoor.
There is parking above the house for two cars. There is a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric oven and hob, a microwave, and washer/dryer. Please note that the lane approaching the property is long and narrow.
