From the owner

“We first came to know and love Whitsand Bay when our children were young.”

From the owner

My mother spent many happy summers here with her grandparents. The adults and young children would travel up from Torpoint on a ´Charabanc´ and the older children would walk behind.

Sometimes they would camp for a few days in ´the meadow´ just below the Cliff Top Café. It is believed that the site was first built on during World War II for families from Plymouth to escape to during air raids. Part of the clifftop was owned by the Edgcumbe family and when they decided to sell it, about 50 of the chalet owners got together to raise the money to buy it. It is now owned and managed by the TCCOA (The Tregonhawke Cliff Chalet Owners Association).

When we acquired our plot, the site contained a wooden chalet with a corrugated iron roof. It had been built in the late 60s by the parents of the family that owned it.

We started planning to rebuild the chalet in 2017. The build actually started in February 2019 and finished in November 2019. Our architect and builder were both great to work with and our architect managed the project; she was also our interior designer and stylist too!
