Seaglass | Luxury Self-Catering Beach House | Whitsand Bay, Cornwall

Seaglass

Tregonhawke, Whitsand Bay, Cornwall, UK

Fusing effortless elegance with simple seaside style, this unique bijou beach house truly lets the landscape sing. Seaglass enjoys one of the largest footprints of all the beach huts on Tregonhawke cliff, in tiered gardens that spill down towards Whitsand Bay and the shimmering ocean beyond. With a yoga deck, hot tub and green credentials galore, this sustainable home is the perfect self-catering hideaway for those wanting to romance by the sea.

Introduction

Seaglass occupies an enviable cliffside position overlooking Whitsand Bay with completely uninterrupted views to the west, making it feel as though you are on the edge of the world. Difficult as it may be to leave, don’t miss a visit to the nearby twin towns of Cawsand and Kingsand to sample the freshest local seafood landed on the harbour just that morning. Winding back along the east Cornwall coastal road, upon return, snuggle up by the woodburner with a glass of red and an old romantic film playing quietly in the background.

Inside

After breakfast in bed, roll back the bi-fold doors in the living room, let the salty air wash over you and take in 180-degree panoramas across the bay; there's simply no better start to the day here at Seaglass. Flaunting a surprisingly spacious open-plan design, couples or solo travellers with dogs in tow can sink into luxury, distracted only by the views. The shower room is a small but luxury space in which to freshen up, but after a day on the beach, nothing will beat rinsing salty bodies under a twinkly night sky in the steaming outdoor shower.

Outside

This luxury beach hut has a large deck and enclosed sloping gardens, perfect for catching the Cornish sunshine as it oscillates throughout the day. A clamber down the coastpath on your doorstep will land you on the long stretch of golden beach at Whitsand Bay. The beauty of the mini outdoor spa area means al fresco beach life can be enjoyed any time of year. Whilst perfect for sunset watching and dolphin spotting in summertime, the hot tub is equally as dreamy in winter. Hopscotch over the frosty garden and sink under the bubbles as brooding clouds hang over the sea.

From the owner

“This is a place of contrast, constant change and beauty and is at the heart of Cornish coastal life. We feel extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to create this home in such a wonderful place and we have tried to keep it at one with its surroundings.”

From the owner

Becoming the new owners of Seaglass in mid-February 2019, we are so excited to start this new venture after 15 years in the hotel industry.

When looking for the right property, we were blown away by the tranquillity and stunning location of Seaglass. The ever-changing weather on the cliff seems to paint so many different pictures, each so beautiful and unique in its own special way.

Unsurprisingly there is an abundance of stunning wildlife surrounding the property - and so much of it can be seen from the comforts of the sofa! We have already seen such an array of birds, from kestrels to buzzards scouring the cliffs, to reed buntings and skylarks amongst the grasses. Looking out to sea watching the cartoon like gannets diving into the sea like bullets is truly a sight to behold.

Seals and dolphins are also a common sight and we have read about previous guests seeing regular sightings of the large black fin of the basking shark. We have put a set of binoculars in the wooden chest for guests to get a better view of some of these stunning creatures!

Guest Testimonials

Great stay in a wonderful place. We enjoyed beautiful sunrises and sunsets and a mix of weather in between. We loved watching the birds and the surfers. We highly recommend The Finnygook Inn for some good food and drink. We enjoyed the unparalleled views of the sea and sky and the changes in colour, a great place to stay!

Best view ever! We have had a brilliant week; watching the changing patterns of the sea, seal spotting and walking almost every footpath and coastpath we could find! We have even managed to wear our border collie out- which is unheard of! An absolutely beautiful place, we would love to come back one day.

Batteries fully recharged, what an amazing location! plenty of walks, plenty of weather and plenty of hot tub dips with a view! What a way to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary! Thank you so much!

After surprising my amazing girlfriend to a weekend away in this perfect paradise, I asked her to marry me. I can´t think of a more beautiful or romantic place than Seaglass to do it. A weekend we will cherish forever and a day. Seaglass has etched its dramatic beauty in our hearts for eternity. Neither of us wanted to leave and can only wish that we are fortunate enough to return in the future. Thank you so much.

After a busy couple of months we were in need of some relaxation time. We spontaneously booked Seaglass just a few days before arriving and I am so pleased we did, best decision of 2018 so far! We enjoyed many dips in the hot tub with those beautiful views and hearing the sea gently lapping at the shore. We had the most wonderful and romantic weekend as ´newly weds´ here. Hope to come back soon! Thank you for a fantastic stay.

Absolute bliss! My wife chose Seaglass for our 10th wedding anniversary and we have not been disappointed in one way! Cosy, well equipped with magnificent views - we couldn´t have asked for more. The beach below was gorgeous; quiet and fun for us all! We would definitely come back, thank you!

A truly idyllic retreat. The constantly changing weather (wet and wild to Mediterranean!) has produced the most magnificent sky and seascapes. We ate at The Devonport Inn in Kingsand which was excellent and very dog friendly. We hope to be back time and time again!

A perfect break and what a change to the hectic lives we live. Peace, views, lovely walks and a roaring fire. We return to real life thoroughly rested and refreshed. We will be back for more!

A much needed and perfect break away in this beautiful place. It was very stormy but this just added to the whole experience! Thank you so much for letting us experience Seaglass in all its magnificence.

´Overcome space, and all we have left is here. Overcome time, and all we have left is now.´ - Richard Bach. Seven wonderful sea-side days of Here and Now. Thank you to everyone who contributed and made it possible for us to stay at Seaglass.
