This stylish 17th century luxury self-catering home near Kirkby Lonsdale is perfectly private, nestled among acres of stunning countryside where the only neighbours will be the charming wildlife characters who too call this beautiful fold of Cumbria home. Figtree House is tucked away down a winding country lane, yet is within walking distance to a wonderful gastro pub for those with a hankering for a gourmet supper and a good burgundy. The nearby fells offer walking opportunities a-plenty, whilst the romantics among you will covet the waterfalls and beautiful picnic spots nearby.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Choose from five beautifully-designed first floor bedrooms, each boasting the finest linens, Roberts iPod docks and views over the gardens and fields beyond. Each of the two king-size bedrooms have en suites with powerful rain showers for an invigorating start to the day. There is an additional double bedroom which also has views over the gardens, whilst two smartly-dressed twin rooms are situated either side of the house to the rear. The twin rooms can also be arranged as super-king doubles on prior request. There is a shared family bathroom with roll-top bath tub and hand-held shower.
The beautiful garden at Figtree House plays host to the delicate snowdrops which pop up first, soon followed by flowering bulbs in springtime such as hyacinths, bluebells, tulips, alliums and lilies. Old English roses and clematis scramble across stone walls and provide a sweet fragrance to tempt the bumblebees and butterflies. The view from every window is dominated by the towering and far-reaching landscape that typifies the surrounding Cumbria/Yorkshire borderland. Day trip to the old market town of Kirkby Lonsdale to browse its boutiques and cobbled streets with evocative names such as Salt Pie and Jingling Lane. Country pursuit enthusiasts will love to spend an afternoon out in the fresh air at Crabtree Clay Shoot, run by the owner's family.
Families can look forward to hunkering down by the woodburner in the snug and cosy nights in with old fashioned board games. In summer months you may find it difficult to leave the chocolate-box cottage gardens; there's no better place to enjoy the afternoon sunshine with the birdsong and distant mooing of the cows. After a day exploring the dramatic terrain of the Lake District close by, luxuriate in comforts such as Egyptian cotton bath towels, locally-made bathing products and scented candles throughout each of the bathrooms.
There is private parking for up to four cars on the gravelled area to the front of the house. Figtree House is well-equipped with washing machine, tumble dryer, large range cooker and microwave.
