Dragonwood Boat House is a hidden gem set in 15 acres of its own private grounds within a magnificent country estate, just outside Oakham in Rutland. Wander through the extensive gardens, woodlands and lakeside pathways to find the blanket of over 10,000 tulips and daffodils which appear in springtime. With a rich Italian flavour, this luxury self-catering boat house flaunts interiors typical of Harlequin design, combining an eclectic fusion of classic and contemporary style to give a flamboyant appeal. A vibrant triad of violet, orange and green jewel-like hues form an adventurous colour palette which oozes opulence.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms

The master suite features a hand-crafted Italian suede super king-size bed adorned with fine French linens for ultimate bedtime luxury. The ritzy en suite wet room has a large rain shower and second WC. A romantic wake-up is guaranteed with floor-to-ceiling views over the sparkling lake out to the rolling pastures beyond.

Outside

The stylish county town of Oakham lies to the west of Rutland Water, one of the largest man-made lakes in Europe and a birdwatcher’s paradise. From wildlife tours to romantic cycle rides around the 25 mile long track, nature lovers will be in their element at this Site of Special Scientific Interest. Live and breathe the country dream and choose from many of the country pursuits on offer at this country estate including shooting, archery and fishing on your very own lake.

When love-birds choose to explore the grounds hand-in-hand on foot, there's no less than 15 enchanting acres of private grounds waiting to be discovered. On clement days, lay out a champagne picnic by the lake and enjoy a lazy lunch in the company of the fleeting butterflies, dragonflies and wild birds. Take advantage of the kayak and while the day away on the water under the late afternoon's sun. The underfloor heating and giant Italian log fire will ensure pure comfort on winter’s evenings, where couples can bask in the lavishness of the interiors and watch the dancing flames from the sumptuous master bedroom.

Practicalities

There is a private drive from the estate gates that leads to Dragonwood Boat House and its designated car park. The modern kitchen has an electric cooker, hob, microwave, dishwasher and a fridge/freezer. Guests can request washing and drying from the main house.
