This luxury self-catering home is perfectly placed for exploring heritage country estates with Barrington Court on the doorstep and Montacute, Lytes Cary and Stourhead all within easy reach; time spent at this very special abode will be cherished by the whole family.
Neighbouring Barrington Court was the first property acquired by the National Trust in 1907; Colonel Lyle (of Golden Syrup fame) took the lease and acquired the adjoining farmland, upon which he built this flawless Edwardian agent's house, Goldhorn. Eclectic African-inspired artwork collected during the owners' travels is peppered throughout this luxury self-catering property, providing characterful intrigue in abundance. With mullion windows and quirky original features throughout, this self-catering property's beguiling history makes it a very special place to stay indeed.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Goldhorn comprises of two sumptuous double bedrooms, twin bedroom and master king size bedroom all on the middle floor. There is a family bathroom with claw foot bath and separate shower, whilst the master bedroom has an en suite shower room and the double bedroom has an en suite bathroom. Each bedroom boasts beautiful views out over the gardens to Barrington Court and the rolling Somerset countryside beyond.
The grounds are home to deer, badgers, squirrels and rabbits, as well as buzzards, owls and even cuckoos. The private gardens surrounding Goldhorn offer peace and tranquility to those looking for some time out, with birdsong providing the glorious soundtrack. A pervasive feeling of calm resonates throughout this luxury self-catering property ensuring a rejuvenating stay for both families and large groups alike. Described by the ancient Welsh Celts and Saxons as the 'Land of the Summer People', Somerset is a county of captivating contrasts. Its coast takes in long sweeping sandy beaches, seaside resorts, harbours and marinas, and the dramatic Exmoor coastline is something visitors will be inspired to write home about. After a long lazy breakfast, why not spend the afternoon curled up fireside with a good book with only the views of the glorious countryside to interrupt?
There is ample parking for up to four cars to the back of the house (which ensures the view of the estate isn't impeded at all!). A pretty open stream borders the Goldhorn gardens, and Barrington Court has many open moats and waterways around the estate itself. The property is well-equipped with a dishwasher, tumble dryer, washing machine and two ovens.

Property Owner Julia says
We love to sit outside the front door soaking up the evening calm that descends on the avenues of the Elizabethan manor house nearby; or to linger over a barbeque in the garden listening to the owls hooting.
