Walk the Pulborough-to-Petworth route, culminating in a visit to stately Petworth House, known for its Turner collection. 

Head south to the coast and the historic cathedral city of Chichester, a suitably busy hub with more stunning Georgian buildings, streets and lanes, and plenty of tea shops to relax in after exploring the shops. Chichester Harbour is a wild green area just to the south, with sheltered waters and thriving maritime history. Plovers and herons live here, as well as geese, gulls and terns, so make sure you bring binoculars. Feeling beachy? Just along the coast is Worthing, a good stop-off for those who love taking long walks with tasty seafood snacks.
