Sundance | Luxury Cottage | Newquay, Cornwall

Sundance

Trebudannon, Newquay, Cornwall, UK

With a bohemian spirit and nomadic soul, this luxury self-catering retreat resides off the beaten track between Newquay and Watergate Bay. Pared-back yet sumptuous, with heavy French linens and indulgent inside-outside living, this handcrafted wagon’s wild heart runs through each upcycled furnishing and feature. With space for two and your fluffy friends, it’s the perfect opportunity for a romantic escape.

Introduction

A wayward gypsy who found home close to the sea, Sundance will inspire solo adventurers and couples to embrace their wild side and roam barefoot in this peaceful part of rural north Cornwall. Settle in and break the status quo; fire up the lower deck's barbecue for an al fresco breakfast, welcome the sound of the rain from the comfort of the glass-enclosed veranda and lounge on the sun beds under the stars as the moon’s reflection dances on the wildlife pond. Offering a truly unique experience, Sundance will find its way to your heart and soul and give you wonderful memories to cherish forever.

Inside

Awaking in the cushy embrace of the king-size bed, draw out your morning lie in with a pile of the weekend papers, some hot coffee and tasty pastries from the nearby deli. A true haven, find peace in each corner and revel in the backdrop of verdant gardens. In summer, the indoor-outdoor living space is a dream, while cooler months are equally as luxurious, especially during winter nights curled up in front of the radiant glow of the woodburner. After along a day walking the coast paths come rain or shine, the en suite bathroom flaunts not only a roll-top bathtub, but a double walk-in shower as well.

Outside

The wildflower gardens surrounding Sundance burst with ornamental grasses as well as a confetti of pink foxgloves, rockery succulents and flitting butterflies. French doors lead out onto an enclosed suntrap patio, offering views over the orchard and across rolling Cornish countryside towards the coast at Watergate Bay. A tranquil escape with nothing to disturb but free range chickens clucking in the adjoining fields, spend balmy summer evenings lounging on a blanket and cooling under the pergola. In pride of place, moorland rambles to boutique shopping and old-fashioned days at the seaside are in easy reach.

From the owner

“I designed Sundance to delight those looking for a luxury nomadic experience like no other. With its quirky Western theme and all the mod cons, this unique wagon house has been transformed into a deceivingly spacious hideaway with personality aplenty.”

From the owner

I discovered Sundance down a country farm track years ago and was instantly intrigued. I went on to discover that the owner had hand built it himself, but never used it! The thought of it sat desolate not being used was heart-breaking, so I made him an offer and thankfully, he accepted!

What sparked my imagination for this building project were memories of building camps and dens along with my brother and sister on our farm as children. We would spend hours outdoors, gathering salvaged items and pieces of nature to create masterpiece shelters which would make play dens all summer long.

I worked closely with a designer and team of local craftsmen to carefully transform the old wagon into a stylish Shepherd’s hut that would provide luxury self-catering accommodation to guests wanting the ‘glamping’ experience, but with all the mod cons. This involved adding an extension for a double bedroom, luxury walk-in shower room and a small utility area.

One of my favourite things about Sundance is its position as it makes a great base from which to explore the delights of the Cornish outdoors. Head out on foot to discover the beautiful countryside, woodland and beaches nearby.

Even after two weeks we still couldn´t get enough of the beautiful, luxurious Sundance! Everything has been said before, but thank you very much for all those little touches. This truly felt like home for our vacation. Thank you so much!

What an amazing location for our honeymoon! We have thoroughly enjoyed Sundance and all that Cornwall has to offer. Would highly recommend the Camel Trail to Padstow, Perranporth and Mawgan Porth. We will be definitely be returning to Sundance!

What a wonderful week we have had at Sundance! Such a relaxing place to stay with all the amenities you need. We visited Daymer Bay as it had been recommended to us, and it was amazing. This is now one of our favourite beaches. This has been one of the best places we have ever stayed in.

We had a lovely stay, the cottage was just perfect! We would like to say thank you to the owner who made the place so welcoming and cosy and provided an array of doggy things for our mutts. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves too and when we got home we bought the same dog beds as they seemed to like them so much.

Thank you so much for a fabulous stay. We absolutely adore Sundance, everything about it is really quirky. Our favourite bit about our stay here was enjoying sitting on the deck with a glass of red wine, idyllic! We will definitely visit again.

Wow! We could not have wished for a more unique, beautiful and perfect place to stay. Sundance did not disappoint and we feel lucky to have called it ´home´ for the last week. The attention to detail and the welcome treats make it even more special, so thank you. We are sad to be leaving and hope to return one day. The perfect place to retreat back to after a busy day exploring the beautiful Cornish coast.

What a fantastic place to spend a weekend. Beautifully finished with amazing attention to detail. We left feeling refreshed and relaxed, not to mention, now desperate to buy a shepherds hut! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

What an amazing little place Sundance is. We have had a fabulous stay. We have spent the weekend seeing the sites around this perfect location, most of all going coasteering with Vertical Descents around the Cornish cliffs. What a great job you have done making it feel so cosy and comfortable here. Thank you so much for this unique homestay.

What a lovely little wagon. All three of us had the most relaxing time here and we loved the location, close to all the lovely beaches. Holywell and Crantock were our favourites and the dog loved them too. Thank you for supplying the gluten free goodies for our arrival. They were fab!

We had a truly amazing time here. The property is cosy and well appointed and is in an ideal location to explore the local beaches. Our favourites being Daymer Bay, Crantock and Constantine which are all dog friendly!

What an amazing week we had and we have already been recommending this wee place to our friends and family. We loved everything about it. Perfect for our mini-moon! Loved Padstow, St Ives and the cutest ever coffee shop Rock Pool in Mousehole. Thank you and can´t wait to come back

Well, what can we say, absolutely fabulous! We loved this stay so much. Loved the theme and all the little touches from the tulips to the cosy blankets. Elsie-May and Eric, the dogs loved it as much as their humans did. Thank you, keep doing what you´re doing. You do it so well.

What a great place to stay! Thank you for the welcome pack and flowers. Sundance is a stunning home, the decor is lovely and everything is so comfortable. We all had a great time discovering the beaches and the weather was a bonus! Once the sun went down the fire kept us lovely and warm. Thank you.

A great week spent at Sundance. The dogs Moo and Bash were delighted with their welcome treats. The whole place just felt cosy from the start. We loved all the little details and had a fantastic time despite the weather. The log burner was put to great use. Thank you for a fabulous holiday.

To be honest when we were looking to book we had been hoping for a sea view property but nothing was available for the dates we would be in the UK. Of the other properties in Cornwall , Sundance appealed to us because of that glorious sunroom. It was a beautiful place to call home for a short time. Even with dull or wet days, the enclosed room with cosy blankets, beautiful gardens and views were perfect for relaxing and reading our books while listening to the sonos system.

What a wonderful week we have had! We could not have asked for better weather. Beautiful cottage and it is very well located to see all the delights of Cornwall. Thanks for a truly memorable holiday.

A truly unique Shepard hut, with fantastic finishing touches. Wonderful location, so peaceful and a perfect break. We will definitely be staying at another one of Unique Homestays properties.

What a lovely cosy, quiet getaway. The home is adorable. A perfect place to escape for our honeymoon straight after our wedding. I highly recommend the Trevilley Farm Shop, we loved the jam. Milo loved it here too, a fantastic setting for a perfect break away. Thank you for all the gifts , much appreciated and always remembered.

Our second visit to Sundance - a week this time but still not long enough! The garden has really come on and the vista of the pool is wonderful. Sorry to be leaving, thanks again.

Thank you for a lovely relaxing weekend, the wagon is beautiful and very relaxing a real treat to celebrate our anniversary. Loved stargazing on the veranda and the hamper. You have thought of everything. Thanks again!

Thank you for a truly wonderful stay. You have thought of everything and we have had the most relaxing holiday. Highlights included star-gazing and prosecco on the deck. We will be back!

A beautiful place in a lovely and peaceful setting! We had a fantastic time at Sundance enjoying both the sunny and wet days we had. We loved all the little extra touches and welcome treats which made the stay even better! The veranda is absolutely amazing and nicely sheltered from the wind. We look forward to coming back soon!

Perfect, idyllic and a relaxing retreat as part of our honeymoon. Enjoyed evenings on the deck eating and drinking as the sun went down. We also enjoyed cosy nights in with log burner. Thank you so much.

What a wonderful week in an amazing place! We have loved all the quirky interiors making it so extra special. A place of inspiration and a place to be inspired. We would highly recommend and will book the wagon house for our sister and brother in laws wedding gift. Thanks for a wonderful holiday.

For an American this was the perfect western oasis and the best way to celebrate a birthday! We had a wonderful stay and will be taking some home interior ideas home with us!

Sundance has a fabulous quirky design. I would describe the interiors as a ´shepherd´s boudoir´. Great fun and comfortable to stay in. Everything was thought of.

Sundance is a very comfortable shepherd´s hut. Lovely decor and design features with very welcome added extras, especially the scones! Settling in was absolutely no problem as everything had been considered with great thought. We had a lovely stay.

Our experience at Sundance was amazing! The welcome hamper and the tin of scones were a huge hit. We will definitely be returning soon. The star-gazing opportunities were endless!

It was perfect - so well thought out and lovely. It was a really easy process of booking and getting access and even when we had a small problem with the WiFi it was quickly resolved. We are very happy.

Fabulous! The attention to detail and finishing touches are great. The hut is set in an excellent location for exploring Cornwall. Our little dog Sophie loved the wild meadow! We were all very well behaved and will be trying out another Unique Homestay soon.

What a cool weekend retreat! Sundance has fabulous decor and finishing touches. We had a warm welcome from Sarah and the team at Unique Homestays, and a night visit from Freddie the friendly Lurcher! Only a few minutes from the beach, we loved it.

What a contemporary, cool, luxurious and peaceful place! We absolutely loved our weekend, it was perfect! Brunch at the Watergate Bay hotel on the balcony is a must. Unfortunately we are pregnant so didn´t get the opportunity to horse ride but we´ll certainly be back to do so! Big thanks.
