Oh, baby it’s a wild world, but within the confines of this luxury self-catering cabin all is quiet, all is still. Here in north Wales, all matter of busyness lifts away with the morning mist, swirling off between the trees and leaving nothing but blissful escapism. Designed with dreamers and nature-lovers in mind, rough stone and exposed wood combine with soft sheepskins and crushed velvet for a wholly organic experience inside, while a whirlpool hot tub and sauna provide a warming al fresco space deep within the pines, even within the depths of winter.
Inside
Layered with plush cushions and thick throws, the king-size bed is a tempting place to while away the days at Ebony Wood, however, with such illustrious landscapes right outside the front door, leave one must. Enjoy drawn-out breakfasts beneath the duvet before heading out to explore Snowdonia National Park, relishing in the knowledge of a cosy self-catering retreat on return. Rough-luxe to its very core, this woodcutter's cabin immerses guests in nature from the inside out.

With views of the River Conwy in one direction and dense forest in the other, Ebony Wood’s exterior is pure delight for those seeking to run far from the hustle of inner-city living. Spend summer evenings whipping up al fresco culinary masterpieces in the outdoor kitchen before sinking into the hot tub as the mountain air cools with the night. On those North Wales winter days where the snow blankets the ground, warm through in the sauna while magic spreads across the land.

- PracticalitiesThere is ample parking for several cars covered by a CCTV camera at the end of the private gravel drive. The kitchen includes a fridge with freezer drawer, oven, induction hob and dishwasher. The outdoor kitchen facilities include a sink, food prep area and a charcoal barbecue. Guests are welcome to explore the adjoining woodland, but are kindly asked not to walk up the drive or enter the horse paddock. Please note that there are several steps and levels throughout the garden and cabin. If arriving by air, helicopters are welcome to land on the grounds with prior arrangement.

Perched at the top of north Wales, this beautiful medieval market town has all the ingredients for an extra special staycation, from its romantic cliffside castle to old pubs, cosy tearooms and a vibrant river festival.
Getting there
- On the Map On the fringes of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park in Conwy, North Wales, Ebony Wood sits within easy reach of Conwy town.
- By Car Ebony Wood is approximately five and a half hour's drive from London.
- By Train Llandudno Junction train station is two miles away, with direct routes to London.
- By Air Liverpool airport is one and a half hour's away by car. Helicopters are welcome to land on the grounds of Ebony Wood with prior arrangement.

“The cabin has always been our woodland hideout, we turn off our phones, close the gate and forget the world for as long as we can. We love listening to the sea birds on the foreshore in the morning, watching the buzzards catching thermals in the afternoon and hoot to the owls at night.”
We believe that there has been a recreational building on this spot at the edge of the estate for 50 years or more. When we moved here in 2005 after spotting the property from across the river, we knew that the cabin would be a very special place.
Ebony Wood is surrounded by private woodland, some of which can be explored via the gate near the parking area. The water that you can see to the front is the tidal estuary of the River Conwy, with the sea behind to the north, it supports a huge variety of bird and animal life that changes with time and tide. The mountains in the distance are the foothills of Snowdonia, with Snowdon itself almost directly in front of us about 30 miles away.
In terms of wildlife, it’s not unusual to see buzzards, red kites, woodpeckers, curlews, ducks, geese, swans, bats, badgers, squirrels, foxes and rabbits, but our favourites are the owls, we'll never forget when we saw four babies lined up on a branch!

Ebony Wood has been simply magical. It is the perfect escape from the city and you feel like you are at one with nature. It´s been a perfect place for us to recharge and refuel for the last two weeks and we are incredibly sad leaving this little piece of heaven. Thank you for the lovely hamper, and more importantly for welcoming our cats and for their lovely hamper, so thoughtful. Hope to be back one day!

The view is everything about this holiday followed very closely by the "shack" with holes in the roof, the comfy bed, hot tub, and the summer house with a Christmas tree. On arrival the personal message to us before we even got to the front door made us smile. The smile and appreciation for this place didn´t fade until we had to say goodbye.
