The Cable Hut | Luxury Self-Catering | Pembrokeshire, South Wales

The Cable Hut

Aberbach, Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK

Back in the days where love letters and drift bottles were amongst the only few means of communication, this humble hut in Pembrokeshire was built to house the first telephone lines laid across the Atlantic Ocean. Over 100 years later, the abandoned Welsh dwelling captured the imagination of a young passing couple and started its latest chapter as a luxury cottage retreat.

Introduction

The Cable Hut nestles between the remote beaches of Abermawr and Aberbach in South Wales, set beside a single-track road within meters of the Pembrokeshire coast path. Half traditional stone cottage and half corrugated iron hut, this bijou bolthole provides a quirky alternative for solo breaks and honeymoons by the sea. Enjoy adventures amongst the stunning Pembrokeshire National Park and peel back the layers of this magical setting. Upon your return, sit back and watch the world go by from the hot tub before lighting up the chiminea and raising a toast to the most darling weekend yet.

Inside

Within The Cable Hut, the modern design incorporates seductive flashes of red and underfloor heating to ensure the hut is a cosy hideaway throughout the seasons. Emerge in the morning from the king-size cast iron bed and wake up to mesmeric sea views. Whether you are starting or ending your day (or both) with a soak, the bathroom with walk-in shower and a deep slipper bath is a sure way to slip into holiday mode. Gaze out to the ocean whilst submerged in warm, sudsy water and celebrate the unparalleled setting. Cosy and dry, rustle up tasty treats in the kitchen and dine with a soundtrack of distant waves.

Outside

Secret beaches and crystal-clear waters make the Pembrokeshire coast a playground for adventure, just 400 metres from the front door. Adrenaline lovers can push themselves to the limit scrambling and diving from towering cliffs into blue lagoons and kayaking through hidden coves with a local coasteering guide. Or, sit back, relax and take in the panoramic coastal views from the sunny garden terrace, where dolphins, seals, puffins and choughs are commonplace sightings. The sheltered courtyard is the perfect suntrap for sunbathing, whilst the garden’s swing seat enjoys wild, whimsical scenes all around.

Guest Testimonials

We had the most wonderful stay and will most definitely be returning! We are just trying to work out how many times we can go back each year! We really did have the best time. We were blessed with incredible weather, and you really do have to visit to appreciate the property’s situation and the beautiful coastline and beaches that are so close. We have been so impressed with everything! Thank you very much.

Lovely, cosy property in a fantastic location. The property was furnished very well, and using local products, such as blankets and blinds made with wool from the local mill was a great touch.

We chose to stay at The Cable Hut as it seemed to be the best dog-friendly choice. I´d say having now been, the ´degree of privacy´ is exceptional. If anything, the description and images don´t quite show how remote and beautiful the location is!

After a very long drive and a lot of traffic, it was such a delight to arrive at The Cable Hut and to find the welcome pack with such lovely treats in. We just had time for a quick walk to the beaches before we made the most of one of the comfiest beds we have ever slept in. We would recommend a meal at The Sloop Inn and the Farmers Arms, walks along the beautiful coastline and countryside. We had a fabulous holiday and are already making plans to return!

Thank you for a truly magical stay! We loved everything about The Cable Hut, especially the fabulous views and beautiful coastal walks close by. The swing seat is in the perfect spot for enjoying the amazing views. There’s no doubt we will visit again!
