Introduction

Alongside the word 'sublime' in the dictionary, a picture of Cornucopia house wouldn't be misplaced. This large self-catering country home near Petworth in West Sussex exudes awe-inspiring grandeur from the moment of arrival. Popular with multi-generational families, here is a place where every whim is catered for - there's even an elevator which ensures zipping between all four floors is a breeze. Work up a sweat in the gym, recline in the soothing hot tub, or enjoy a game of ten pin bowling down in the lower ground floor relaxation zone, before riding the lift back up to discover the delights on offer within the rest of the house.

Inside

The opportunities for entertainment and rejuvenation are limitless at Cornucopia. Starting your day, seven beautifully appointed king-size bedroom suites with views over the South Downs call for long mornings in bed, sipping mimosas and plotting the day's itinerary. As the youngsters dart off to the cinema room for a private screening or gather around for table tennis or snooker, those wanting to pamper can lead the way to the spa. For a bit of calm, flee to the Moroccan-style relaxation room on the lower ground floor. Sit back, and feel a billion miles from home.

Outside

The house is set in 40 acres of exquisite parkland with a private lake and jetty, outdoor swimming pool (heated from May-September) and manicured lawns, all kept private by a shield of majestic oak trees. Budding tennis champs can hone their skills on the outdoor tennis court, whilst little ones will enjoy working up an appetite on the trampoline before being reluctantly summoned for dinner. Adjacent to the house next to the swimming pool is an undercover seating area offering a slice of the Mediterranean - a stylish al fresco space for enjoying an evening tipple as the sun sets behind the trees.

From the owner

“As a property developer, it had been my dream for many years to create a home for my family with every whim catered for. I was able to purchase the land eight years ago and realise those dreams in the form of the beautiful Cornucopia.”

From the owner

After purchasing the land on which Cornucopia sits, it has been amazing to see all my ideas and hopes become a reality. I’m passionate about Georgian architecture but wanted a home with all the mod cons; designing and building the house myself meant that I didn’t need to compromise on this.

I love the space and modern luxuries that the house affords, yet also the traditional aspects such as the fireplaces and the central winding staircase. It really offers something for every generation and every interest. Whether you are looking for constant fun or some unadulterated downtime, Cornucopia will provide.

I hope that when you see Cornucopia, it’ll leave you as enchanted and awe-struck as it constantly leaves us. Having put a huge amount of thought into every detail, facility and furnishing, I am very proud of what’s been achieved and look forward to sharing it with you.

We needed a holiday with plenty to do on site as my son has mobility issues and Cornucopia certainly had that! The lift was a huge added bonus. The house was so wonderful and the weather was very good so we didn´t leave the property for the whole week! The properties on the Unique Homestays website are superb and make you feel special, so much so that my son and his wife have booked another for the half term in October.

We loved all of the facilities on offer and spent the majority of our time in the bowling alley, on the boating lake or splashing in the pool. Everything was high spec and the whole set-up had the wow factor. Thank you!
