Well, what can we say? What a perfect place to celebrate my 60th birthday with my amazing family. Weather was out of the world and we enjoyed every nook and cranny at The Hatch and Crantock. We walked for miles and miles, laughed, and loved all the way. The dogs thought they had arrived in heaven and so did we all. Perfect & so many memories. Thank you.
We had a wonderful stay at The Hatch. Crantock is a lovely area and we enjoyed great walks, day trips to towns nearby and enjoyed eating out at the pub and Jam Jar nearby. The Hatch is a wonderful place to stay and our family has so enjoyed being here to celebrate.
It was all beautiful, the manner in which it was presented was outstanding. From the water beside the front door for dogs, to lavender pillow mist at night! It was just so lovely, a really indulgent home from home feeling.
First week of April 2025 – and what amazing weather. A very beautiful house, which made for a much-needed, relaxing week. We didn´t need to travel far as the local beaches and walks are amazing. We can definitely recommend Jam Jar for their pizzas (vegan options too). The Hatch is very welcoming, cosy and relaxing – perfect. To see the seals near Polly Joke beach was truly very special.
What a beautiful way to celebrate my 50th birthday — every single detail, from the hamper, to the hot tub, to the ease of it all. Thank you, Unique Homestays team. It’s a birthday that I will not forget.
We have had the most lovely and relaxing time at The Hatch. A superb location and my two teenage boys have spent hours playing cricket and rugby on the beach, not to mention climbing sand dunes. We had a meal at the pub behind; fabulous food and many hours spent in the hot tub! Thanks again for a wonderful stay.
The best UHS we have stayed in. Location is a dream. The house perfect, as is the garden and cinema room. We will definitely be booking to stay again. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.
The Hatch was truly outstanding, picture perfect. The garden was beautiful, the game’s and craft rooms a bonus. So great for large families, we would love to return in the future.
The property was of a very high standard. It was very clean and we thought in particular, the kitchen had lots of items we would tend to reach for at home. That was delightful!
We were able to find an incredible retreat that ticked all our boxes and more. The Hatch was very well presented and suited our taste as well as being within close proximity to many prime hot spots.
The welcome hamper in the property was lovely, the individual items were very enjoyable, and the dog bowls, treats etc were definitely met with approval! This is a wonderful house, which we all agreed was a privilege to stay in. We liked the relaxed atmosphere in the house. Bringing children and pets can be far from relaxing, but both were welcomed and whilst we were careful throughout the property, we didn’t feel intimidated by it.
We were so impressed from the moment we opened the door, every single detail has been thought about, we felt very at home. Thank you for creating such a beautiful home for us to stay in.
Describing The Hatch as perfect does not do it justice. It is truly the most beautiful house with stunning gardens to match. We had a fantastic holiday where we made incredible memories. On top of that our dog was also made welcome to this wonderful home. Thanks again to the wonderful owner, we had the most amazing time!
We had the most wonderful weekend here and were blessed with beautiful weather. The perfect house to relax, cook delicious food, sit in the garden, walk to the beach, snuggle down to a film in the cinema room, very comfortable with every detail thought out. Luxurious comfortable bedding and towels, robes for each person, absolute bliss.
The property was very lovely with great attention to detail. It’s often so disappointing to book a holiday house and find pretty awful contents, here everything was beautiful, thoughtfully curated understated luxury. I had taken a supply of things often not provided but returned with it unused. We were very touched by the gift left for our anniversary and the welcoming hamper was perfect.
This was my first time using Unique Homestays. My dad was travelling from America for a quintessential British holiday and I feel that this met and exceeded his expectations. I was blown away by the house loved the decor so much so I requested to know the colour of the conservatory. The attention to detail is remarkable. I will definitely use Unique Homestays again and could not recommend them enough.
We had an absolutely lovely time at the Hatch which is a gorgeous house. We used Unique Homestays a lot and this house was as beautiful as the others we have stayed in. The weather was also very kind.
The property was beyond stunning with so much thought and detail put into it. The beach is a short walk away and has the most beautiful sunsets. Our host was kind, and attentive, the beautiful gift-filled basket upon arrival went down a treat!

Introduction
Turn off the main thoroughfare through Crantock village towards the beach, park in front of the prettiest outbuilding you ever did see (your games room-come-cinema snug) and there you’ll find it; a Grade-II listed fudge-maker's house that has been transformed into a luxury coastal holiday cottage for families in Cornwall. Wander through the garden’s colourful blooms and twisting mushroom sculptures and open the doors to a feast for the senses. Inside The Hatch, a huge fire fills the house with crackling warmth, umber throws rest on leather armchairs and reclaimed wood from an ancient local shipwreck adds drama to the calming, coastal interiors.
Inside
Cornish cob walls, sinkable linen sofas and muted whites come together to create simplistic modern rusticity, making this luxury coastal home an unrivalled destination for both seaside summer holidays and winter nights hunkering from north Cornwall's wild, untamable storms. In the conservatory, a dining table with driftwood appeal sits beneath shaggy sea-grass pendants, while the dogs will find a slumber-spot atop the kitchen's nautical star tiles. Upstairs, four bright bedrooms await with room enough for all the family; the main en suite lets you sink into the tub with views of the cottage garden and sky playing out all around.
Outside
Wrapping around three sides of the cottage, sub-tropical gardens brimming with wildflowers, Cornish palms and headily scented beds provide an idyllic location for quiet morning coffees, raucous family lunches or starlit soaks in the hot tub. When the weather cools, retain a life al fresco by retreating to the orangery, where large succulents warp and twist to the sun; the hammock and bamboo lounger lending themselves just as well to siestas as they do to sundowners. Beyond the bottom of the garden, Crantock's lively pubs and chic bistros await, while the sandy beach and South West Coast Path are just an eight-minute skip down the road.

“As a keen gardener, I fell in love with the grounds of The Hatch as much as the house itself. From the succulent-filled glasshouse to the pond, coastal-inspired planting to the al fresco dining space, I found this historic cottage captivating.”
The Hatch was a rare find; a characterful quintessential Cornish cottage with a vibrant history, set within beautiful well-established gardens yet just a short walk from one of my favourite North Cornish beaches.
A cottage that is at once spacious yet cosy, The Hatch was already a much-loved family home; we simply embraced its coastal setting and added a laid-back, beach house flavour to the interior.
Perfect for family gatherings, from the spacious conservatory designed for drawn-out suppers to the open-plan living spaces, The Hatch is as idyllic for summer soirees as it is cosy winter gatherings.
A true haven for relaxation, once you arrive, you'll find little need to leave. Crantock has two pubs a stone’s throw away, a wood-fired pizzeria and village store, meaning you can hunker down and slip into holiday mode.
The stunning Gannel estuary is a mesmeric spot whatever the season; whether you’re seeking an old-fashioned bucket and spade beach holiday, or more action-packed on-the-water adventures; you’ll find The Hatch the perfect base for all types of coastal forays.
