The Hamptons | Luxury Self-Catering | Mullion Cove, The Lizard

The Hamptons

Mullion, Cornwall, UK

Secret coves and white sand beaches lapped by crystal seas; that's what the country's most southerly point proudly greets you with after the meandering journey down. Set within the sprawling grounds of the Bonython Estate, with cladded walls, vaulted ceilings and acres of gardens to explore, this luxury Cornish cottage promises a blissful escpe. No sounds but birds chirping in the treetops and no agenda other than one fine adventure.

Introduction

Nestled within one of the ‘Great Gardens of Cornwall’ and a short drive from the paradisaical beaches of the southern coast, The Hamptons offers a peaceful haven near the area's favourite chocolate-box fishing villages. As calming inside as the outside is beautiful, this wood-clad self-catering hideaway flaunts simple, elegant flair with original artwork (painted by the owner) and delicate hues throughout; the perfect spot for throwing caution to the wind and shirking all responsibility.

Inside

Push open the French doors in sunny months to enjoy morning tea under blue skies. In winter, cosy up on the rug with the woodburner crackling beside and board games strewn across the coffee table. Ideal for families, the Hamptons has two beautifully appointed en suite bedrooms of effortless elegance. Choose between one super-king zip-and-link bedroom with a separate dressing room, walk-in shower and freestanding double-ended bathtub, or one pretty twin with a walk-in rainfall shower.

Outside

Grab a holiday read, glass of something chilled and blanket to sprawl out on and while away afternoons in the dappled shade of the trees. With 20 acres of country estate encompassing walled gardens, magical woodland and meandering lakes, there are opportunities en masse to find a solitary quiet spot or somewhere for shared games. Children will delight in the separate snug room, which they can claim as their own, for den building and games of make believe.

From the owner

“Our little slice of heaven, the Hamptons is a fabulous property perfect for getting away from it all. Explore the 20-acre estate and radiant gardens and let the abundant peace and tranquility wash over you.”

From the owner

The Bonython Estate (home to one of ‘The Great Gardens of Cornwall’) has been inhabited for well over 1,000 years. Our ownership began in 1999 when we purchased it from the Lyle family who had been in residence for almost 200 years. Since then, we have restored much of the estate ourselves, including the former estate workers’ bungalow and gardens. Very proud of the results, we want our guests to experience total tranquillity, quality and comfort.

The Hamptons is well located for visiting the beautiful coves and coastal pathways of the Lizard Peninsula, the majority of which are now owned by the National Trust. The Lizard offers that special unspoilt mix of Cornish magic with world-renowned beaches, such as Kynance Cove and Kennack Sands, and numerous fishing villages such as Coverack, Cadgwith and Mullion, famous for Cornish crab and lobsters. Apart from the truly outstanding beauty of the Lizard National Park right next door, there is also the lighthouse station on Lizard Point (the true southernmost tip of the British Isles) and the spectacular Helford River just a couple of miles away.
