This is our fourth visit to Beauport and we love it as much now as when we first came. The house is beautifully presented and the river frontage is a massive plus. Newton Ferris/Noss Mayo are exquisite, a little bit of heaven! For sure, we will return for another trip and probably more after that. We just love it. Thank you!

We had a lovely time in Devon and the house was just perfect. We loved the spaces, details, decorations and interior design and the landscaping was spot on and the kitchen was the real gem. We enjoyed our breakfasts in the rear garden and our dinners in the front garden overlooking the water.
Thank you very much for a lovely stay in your cottage, we were very lucky with the weather sunshine most days. The cottage was decorated beautifully for Christmas. The most perfect place to stay to celebrate my Birthday.
We could not have asked for anywhere more relaxing than this cottage, it is stunning. Being by the river makes it even more beautiful. We have all been so relaxed, stress-free and living the dream. We highly recommend the Ship Inn for food.
Beautiful cottage in a peaceful and relaxing location. It is so quiet and chilled out. We will be telling our friends and hopefully be coming again soon! Thank you so much.
We had a lovely stay here at Beauport Cottage. A very thoughtfully designed and delightful cottage in an ideal location. We have stayed at many other places to complete our lifetime goal of exploring the south west coast path, and this is definitely one of my favourites!
How would I describe our wonderful week at Beauport? Simply put, in my words, a moving landscape that lulled me into a relaxed and meditative state throughout the whole week. We locked the car, left it parked for 6 of the 7 days, and enjoyed the beautiful scenery, delightful walks and idyllic charm of the cottage, so blissful.
Thank you for an absolutely lovely weekend getaway at Beauport. The house is gorgeous and immaculately presented with everything we could have possibly needed. It was cosy but light, and airy with enough space for everyone to spread out, especially in the beautifully landscaped gardens and summerhouse. Our highlight was enjoying a pancake breakfast in the morning sun overlooking the river! We definitely plan to return to explore the area more.

Introduction
Set in the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Yealm estuary is a haven for artists and sailors seeking a riverside location with historic charm. Surrounded by ancient woodland, the creek upon which Beauport sits ebbs away at low tide, revealing a walkway to neighbouring Noss Mayo with its renowned gastro pub The Ship Inn. Watch the sailing boats pass by and dip your toes in the water, before catching the passenger ferry to the coastal parish of Wembury. This is a thoughtfully renovated home that blends its setting and heritage with contemporary calm.
Inside
Summer haven and winter hideaway, Beauport’s interiors balance a stylish yet timeless palette of cool, coastal tones with warm, inviting fabrics and furnishings sourced from local artisan makers and antique shops, as well from further afield. Draw out family breakfasts around the large dining table. On chilly winter evenings the Aga and two woodburners warm the kitchen and living room, an invitation to settle down with a glass of wine and enjoy the ambient glow. Visit in December, and Beauport takes on an ethereal quality, with cottage-style Christmas decor to rival the most festive of homes.
Outside
A well-established terraced garden leads up from the back of Beauport offering seating areas along the way – follow the stone steps to the top for a breathtaking vista of the River Yealm, Noss Mayo on the other side. The summerhouse provides a serene space to watch the river and its inhabitants go by. Within the house's charming, off-kilter walls, artists can take the time to capture the ethereal light made famous in this corner of the West Country, before dropping tools and heading out on foot for a languid afternoon tea – complete with local jam and a generous serving of clotted cream.

“For us, staying at Beauport is all about the river and the ever-changing views from the cottage and garden. It is about relaxing in the summerhouse or riverside garden with a glass of wine and a good book, or being lulled to sleep with the gently hypnotic lapping of the river outside the window...”
Beauport was built in the early 1700s as a simple fisherman's cottage; the original families would have had a hard life earning their living fishing on the River Yealm. The sturdily built stone cottage would have been home to as many as 12 people, all tightly squeezed in the two-up two-down riverside cottage.
Over time Newton Ferrers gently grew in prosperity and, along with Noss Mayo, became a haven for holidaymakers. The cottage remained fairly unchanged until 2012, when it was lovingly renovated with a new kitchen, a third bedroom and an additional bathroom. Over time, Riverside Road West became one of the most sought-after roads in the South Hams, and we both still pinch ourselves that we were able to purchase this wonderful cottage in 2014.
On purchasing the property, I asked my friend and designer Paul to transform it into a beautiful place to stay. Paul's skills enabled us to turn Beauport into the idyllic riverside hideaway it is today. With the newly landscaped gardens and restored summerhouse, we hope it offers our guests a very enjoyable stay in this beautiful corner of Devon.
