Redmere Hall
Bishopstrow, Warminster, Wiltshire, UK
When the owners discovered these former stables near Warminster dating back to 1838, a realisation struck: here, in this patchwork quilt of classical Wiltshire countryside, was an accessible space in which people – of all generations – could gather and connect. After a period of thoughtful renovation sparing no effort, they’ve done what they set out to do. A luxury retreat with a pool, a tennis court and a courtyard designed for togetherness, Redmere Hall is a celebration of space, and a space of celebration. Read more...

Introduction
Redmere Hall is an ode to the owners’ passion for human connection, designed specifically for multi-generational gatherings. The house stands apart for its enveloping layout, and at its heart: the large, sun-touched courtyard. Here, you can break bread, share stories and relax with drinks. Playful, modern farmhouse interiors exude theatre, light and bright thanks to floor-to-ceiling glass. And through that glass, the inside and out become one. Come summer, open doors and windows invite the breeze to meander through its entirety.
Inside
Everywhere in this spacious house, an intriguing thing to see. Imagined with Anna Burles of creative design house Run For The Hills, the no-detail-overlooked interior speaks to its former identity as a stable block. A custom-made banquette inspired by a stable stall, for example. Statement House of Hackney wallpaper features, and throughout, a gallery of original contemporary works sourced from the artists themselves. Special attention has been paid to the lighting design; in winter, Redmere Hall transforms into a glowing cocoon.
Outside
The house is a private bolthole with a range of outdoor spaces. Watch the wildlife in the woodland, prepare a poolside feast while the children splash around, or challenge family to a tennis tournament of Wimbledon proportions. Elsewhere, you can step from the main living space onto the terrace for some quiet, breathe in the aroma of the cedar hot tub, and wander inside the wisteria-lined walls of the house’s own secret garden. A short drive away is the bustle of Frome – a market town noted for its creative scene and independent stores.

“A lot of thought and heart has gone into the design of Redmere Hall. We have always loved hosting gatherings; in today’s busy world, we believe these need to be intentional and regular.”
We adore our nieces and nephews, and really wanted this space to be magical for family groups. Redmere Hall is a place where children can have a lovely time (and be safe), but also where parents can enjoy themselves, have proper conversations and be able to relax. The cinema room is great for popcorn and children's films while adults enjoy a cheeseboard and wine by the fire next door, followed by late-night singalongs around the piano.
We have a small dog, Chutney, who loves to gallop around the gardens and lie in the sun spots. We’ve loved thinking about the dog owner’s experience. We’ve also designed Redmere Hall to be wheelchair accessible, as much as possible, to enable multi-generational groups to gather. The house is about forging human connection in a world that seems intent on driving us apart. It feels at its best when it's full of people: one person making a huge breakfast with locally sourced sausages and eggs, and another at the coffee station, everyone gathering in the kitchen. There's plenty to do in the local area, but honestly, it's hard to leave.
