July sees the launch of Unique Homestays’ wilderness sauna series, in collaboration with Devon-based sauna craftsfolk Out of the Valley. In line with the release of Out of the Valley’s first mobile sauna Aquila last month, we’re hosting the sauna – which is already up for a prestigious Dezeen award – at select Unique Homestays Devonshire properties: Verte, Ivy Cove and Morwell from July to October this year. We’re inviting guests to slow down, reconnect and unwind in some of the South West’s most beautiful, unspoiled natural settings.

Out of the Valley
Driven by a desire to embrace off-grid living in close connection with nature, Out of the Valley began with the creation of a single cabin, built in a deep wooded valley, riverside on the edge of Dartmoor, with the intention of embracing a simpler way of life. Today, sauna cabins are their speciality, and their bespoke, handcrafted designs – complete with wood-burning stove and outdoor cold shower – are the ultimate sanctuary for wellness seekers, where carefully considered design and sustainable materials combine.
Their transportable wellness retreat will first pop up at Verte in Devon; a design-led, glass-wrapped treehouse located on the Chevithorne Barton Estate – home to the UK’s largest collection of oak trees. It will then journey to Ivy Cove; a stone cottage near Noss Mayo with its very own private beach, before heading to Morwell in Cornwall; a 400-year-old farmhouse surrounded by 50-acres of wild grounds, soaring wooded valley and private slice of the River Tamar, where the sauna series will conclude.
You can book a sauna and stay at Verte from 18th July until 22nd August, at Ivy Cove from 22nd August to 19th September and at Morwell from 19th September to 22nd October. Each Unique Homestays property starring in the series has been chosen due to its complete immersion in the natural setting in which it resides, and tangible restorative benefits experienced here.
