Fantastic property, we had a brilliant time and being both in the cottage itself and being surrounded by Coventry’s work was very inspirational.
Our hosts at Pomona were lovely, everything was very clean and tidy and we really appreciated the warm welcome and opportunity to contact our hosts if needed. Thank you for a really enjoyable stay.
Felt like a different idea vs a typical sea view, the style of the house also looked very considered. The kitchen was really well equipped and we really appreciate that as we like to cook.
Pomona is a great place and just above the most beautiful beach. Great house with lovely gardens, the pool and cinema room were such a treat too, plus all mod cons and great wifi (so important when you sadly have to keep working!)

Introduction
1969 was one of the most culturally defining years in history. While Armstrong took his first steps on the moon and Hendrix blazed the stage at Woodstock, British artist Terence Coventry packed up his tools and started out again, moving to a small farm on the south Cornwall coast. In the latest chapter of his unique seaside home, Coventry’s son has paid homage to his life’s work by transforming the house into a luxury self-catering retreat that sojourning families can claim for their own.
Inside
Pomona cleverly bridges the gap between private home and gallery. Curated as a retrospective of Coventry's works, the oeuvre ranges from his early self-portraits to bold abstract paintings and the figurative sculptures he later became famous for. In a recent renovation, new life has been breathed into the one-story home. A monochrome palette allows the verdant surrounds to sing through floor-to-ceiling windows, while dimly lit globe pendants add warmth alongside two modular fireplaces.
Outside
Poised on an east-facing crescent of Cornwall's Lizard Peninsula, Coverack's sand and shingle bay glimmers like a waxing moon against the ocean, making it a hidden gem on the remote south coast. After a few morning laps of the pool, take a stroll through the gardens and into the sculpture park where you can join the coastpath to the village. Pick-up a coffee and watch the fishermen return to harbour, or turn your own hand to the art of fishing by joining a mackerel trip. Seafood linguine al fresco will be the perfect reward to a day of exploring.
There are three bedrooms at Pomona, one of which is en suite whilst the other two share use of the family bathroom.

“When Pomona fell in to our ownership, we saw the opportunity to share some of the many pieces of art that were created in this very house, which became an exciting prospect.”
The house was originally built in 1969 by my parents, who both lived here when Pomona was their family home. My father (Terence Coventry) had moved to Coverack from the West Midlands in the 60s when he began farming on the clifftop, putting art on the back burner.
30 years later, the forms from agriculture and the surrounding wildlife started to re-kindle something in the artist. Making up for lost time, from that day forward until his death, barely a day was lost without him creating. He went on to exhibit worldwide and today we open the park, home to over 45 sculptures (including our favourite Pomona), to the public free of charge.
When the house came in to our ownership, we wanted to keep the essence of the property without ruining the warm, welcoming feel it had. We worked with a local designer who incorporated the art collection while modernising the interior.
There are many sculptures within the garden too, as well as secret pathways for children, which we hope you find a verdant paradise.
