Ensconced within a delightful verdant valley setting in north Cornwall, The Bulrushes is a luxury self-catering cottage not far from the coastal village of Crantock exuding a charming spirit all its own. Flaunting interiors inspired by the river that runs through the bottom of the garden, this former mill was once part of the prestigious Trerice Estate and promises a relaxing stay in a peaceful, rural idyll.
Hidden down a country lane within an ancient wooded valley near Crantock in north Cornwall, The Bulrushes is a haven of tranquillity not far from some of Cornwall’s finest sandy beaches. Following a striking interior revamp, this old flour mill fuses traditional Cornish cottage features with accents of gold and midnight blue to create a characterful cottage with a personality as strong as the granite used to build it.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Crisp linens and marshmallow beds provide the perfect backdrop for a blissful night's sleep after the day's adventures. The king-size double room and quaint twin bedroom each boast views over the beautiful cottage gardens and share a spacious modern family bathroom with bath and overhead shower. There's simply no better place to pamper and feel your troubles melt away than in a bath full of bubbles. The gentle trot of passing ponies will combine with the tweets of the birds to complete the ambience of countryside perfection.
The old leat that originally provided the running water to drive the wheel of the mill remains in the woodlands above the house, and guests can enjoy the gentle babble of the leat returning water from the mill to the River Gannel as it meanders across the gardens. The surrounding woodland is bursting with wildlife so, with jam jars at the ready, children will love to set off on countryside adventures; leaving grown-ups to enjoy an afternoon snooze in the sunshine down by the river.
From picnics by the riverside to evenings spent in the battered leather wingback chair beside the fire; a blissful family holiday is guaranteed at The Bulrushes. In summer months it's all about good old-fashioned days at the seaside, whilst in winter, sink into the velvet Chesterfield and enjoy some quality time getting stuck into your favourite family board games. With numerous dramatic coastal walks nearby, the local area is a rambler's delight. Take a stroll on Watergate Bay before heading to one of the beachy inns for a glass of white and pot of steamed Cornish moules marinière.
The spacious utility room is perfect for kicking off muddy boots. The Bulrushes is well-equipped with a washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, unique circular stone hand basin and worktop space. The front garden and parking for two is just across the little lane that runs in front of the cottage.

FOOD AND DRINK
With two ovens and all the mod cons, the spacious and contemporary farmhouse-style kitchen is well-equipped to provide an inspiring place for budding chefs to get creative. Enjoy relaxed breakfasts and sundowner barbecues in the garden - when the English weather permits!
If you'd rather spend your self-catering break indulging in the little luxuries, let an in-house chef prepare a mouth-watering meal for you and your loved one (on prior request and subject to an additional cost).
If its a friendly welcome and hearty pub grub you're after then there are many traditional Cornish pubs nearby to tickle your fancy; The Pheasants Inn in nearby St Newlyn East is great for Sunday roast dinners! The Fish House is a 'must visit' for seafood lovers, whilst the foodie Mecca of Padstow is just a short drive along the coast.
