This luxury self-catering boat house in Downderry near Cawsand retains all the character from its previous life as an old Cornish boat house. With luxurious contemporary interiors, The Boat House has been transformed into a gem of a home stay in "the forgotten corner of Cornwall". The gardens are a nature lover's paradise with five acres of secluded wooded grounds bound by National Trust land.
Floor-to-ceiling sliding doors give way to breath-taking coastal views, whilst the open air terrace provides the perfect spot for all the family to enjoy some blissful downtime under twinkling starry skies with the sounds of the waves below. Quirky additions such as the suspended wood-burner and ultra-modern kitchen combine to make this coastal retreat near Cawsand one which you'll be inspired to write home about.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
The spacious double room sits under the 'eyebrow' of the eaves, and offers sleepy-heads the luxury of watching the tide ebb and flow from the vantage point of the marshmallow bed. The smart twin room (which is zip-and-link so can also be arranged as a king-size double if required) has private access to the outside terraced balcony, and skylight windows will delight the stargazers among you. There is a first floor family bathroom with bath and overhead shower, as well as a ground floor shower room.
The secluded landscaped gardens are the idyllic place to sit a-while, with only the morning birdsong and hypnotic crashing of the waves to disturb. Pops of colour and mature shrubs provide plenty of interest for the eye, whilst the sight and sound of the bees buzzing lazily around the flowers provide the perfect tonic for a relaxing afternoon. A hop, skip and a jump down the private garden path leads through the gate onto the South West Coast Path with miles of unbridled exploration at your disposal.
Jam jars at the ready as you set off on your very own garden bug safari; an activity certain to inspire the imaginations of little ones! Sunshiny afternoons are best spent atop the spacious deck with a glass of something cold and a BBQ sizzling with the freshest catch of the day. Nearby Portwrinkle beach is a rockpooler's delight. The beach also boasts a stretch of fine golden sand and is a great spot for those brave enough to dip their toes in the typical Cornish waters. Just a short drive to Kingsand and Cawsand where you will find a smattering of eateries renowned for offering top quality local gastronomic delights.
There is parking for up to three cars. The property sits alongside the owners' house, in which they live for the majority of the year. There is a storage cupboard with washing machine and dryer.

Property Consultant Clare says
The setting of The Boat House is what strikes you on first arrival; hidden away in this quiet little-known corner of Cornwall, the sea front location and secluded gardens are really quite spectacular. I especially loved the quirky suspended wood burner in the lounge!
FOOD AND DRINK
The well equipped contemporary light-filled kitchen is the perfect place to whip up a storm before enjoying an al fresco feast out on the terrace. On colder evenings enjoy a relaxed supper in the dining area taking in the sea views afforded to you by the floor-to-ceiling glass doors.
If you'd rather spend your break indulging in the little luxuries, let an in-house chef prepare a mouth-watering meal for you and your party (on prior request and subject to an additional cost).
This forgotten corner of Cornwall is the perfect destination for foodies; head to Looe for delicious fresh fish on the quay, to Whitsand Bay for fine cuisine with a view or to the charming villages of Kingsand and Cawsand for traditional pub grub and the freshest 'catch of the day'.
