An uplifting couples’ retreat, Romany leans fully into its whimsical setting. A sense of nostalgia runs throughout, with white shiplap walls traditional to Kent, a cosy woodburner in the open-plan living space, and layers of vintage fabrics and curated antiques. The bedroom is anchored by a statement chandelier and a clawfoot bath made for long, candlelit soaks, whilst an orangery-style summer room invites guests to while away the hours stretched out on the daybed before lingering over a sunset supper. It’s perhaps little surprise this cabin has featured in numerous magazines and books.

From the owner
“The cabin is perfectly situated for you to enjoy the stunning countryside and the gorgeous Romney Marsh - also known as the Fifth Continent - with its wide open vistas, special micro climate and proximity to miles of beautiful coastline filled with wildlife and beaches.”

We have lived on Romney Marsh for 15 years and totally adore it. At times it is like an onslaught to your senses with fragrant smells of rape fields in the spring, wheat in the summer and the rich marshy earth in the winter. In the summer we wake every day to the sound of birdsong, the roar of the poplar trees and the extraordinary 'chorus' of the marsh frogs.
Romney Marsh is a nature lovers paradise; bats, foxes, badgers, mink, stoats, water voles, hares, field mice and moles are all welcome residents here while birdwatchers flock from all over the world to catch a sight of the amazing and rare array of birdlife from marsh harriers, kestrels, nightingales, cuckoos, herons, cormorants, woodpeckers, and barn owls.
Rare sightings include honey buzzards, European serins and purple herons. Romney Marsh is also home to the much protected great crested newt and many endangered insects... and we have it all in our back garden!
This is a land of smugglers, shipwrecks (the local pub was once a smugglers inn), long walks, cycling, birdwatching, beaches, windsurfing, fishing (you can catch mackerel off the beach at Dungeness) and all only an hour and a half from London.

Such a lovely stay! Cozy but with so much light and beautiful sunsets. Really nice setup and enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and watching the butterflies, birds, and dragonflies! Thanks for having us.
This has been just what we needed after an eventful year and very busy few months. There is a real sense of being looked after with thoughtful touches - something that can´t be taken for granted. For both of us, the sense of quiet and opportunity to completely relax has been wonderful. In our opinion, much better than going to a hotel. We’ll be back!
Back again, and just as enchanted. This cabin remains a haven of calm and understated beauty, a true escape from the noise of everyday life. Until next time!
We couldn´t have imagined a more peaceful escape. This little cabin felt like stepping out of time, gentle, and beautifully considered. A few days far from the rush of Paris & Brussels, held in calm and simplicity. Thank you for creating a space that lets people breathe again!
The most relaxing and wonderful weekend! The perfect place to unwind and take a break from London life! Would love to come back in the summer to enjoy the garden and outside space.
Our second visit and it was lovely to compare a winter with a summer stay. Having turtle doves every day was a real treat. We spent a lot of time outside. Highlights were Great Dixter, the most amazing gardens we have ever seen, seeing great egrets at the RSPB reserve, Dungeness and an anniversary meal at The George in Rye. We also enjoyed a meal at the Wood Pack nearby. For a nostalgic pint you can´t beat the Red Lion at Snargate.
Romany was absolutely stunning! A beautiful property in a beautiful location. The store cupboard essentials available was much appreciated, as was the sparkling wine. We’re already talking about returning.
We loved everything about our stay, it was the most perfect place to start the new year.
Thank you, Atlanta and Dave, for creating this beautiful place of light and lightness. We greatly enjoyed visiting Sissinghurst Castle and Great Dixter House while always looking forward to coming back to your wonderful cabin. We´d love to come back soon!
Second time staying. Feels like home. Our very happy place. See you again very soon.
We´ve had an amazing time staying at Romany. The peace and quiet is just what we´ve needed. It´s a great retreat. We will be back.
A lovely few days spent here in your cabin exploring this part of Kent/East Sussex. Wonderfully relaxing, and fabulously quiet and so many great gardens to visit. A great way to spend a few days. Thank you.
Thank you so much for a lovely stay of cabin. We have a 2-month-old and a cockapoo and it was the perfect place for our little family! We loved the secluded location and the shabby chic feel of the place, with the added touch of luxury throughout like the hot tub and very comfortable bed and beautiful furnishings! We will definitely be recommending and returning!
A lovely, comfortable house in a lovely peaceful setting. Just right to unwind. Go to the Little Rock on the beach in Folkestone for a lovely lunch. And go to the farm shop, it´s wonderful!
Great spot to unwind and explore this part of the world. Had a lovely meal at the Woolpack, and Rye is always a place to enjoy. Certainly worth a visit. Thank you for having us!
What a lovely place! We decided that, by chance, we came on the best week of the year to enjoy it all. The fresh green of the grass, frothy hedge parsley, and the cuckoo every morning. It was really special. PS. Webbe’s Fish Café in Rye is excellent!
A beautiful cabin, comfortable and relaxing. Lovely places to visit nearby - Rye, Hastings, Hythe. Great pub food nearby. Had a lovely few days, thank you again for such a wonderful stay.
Beautiful shabby chic property in a lovely, peaceful, private setting. Well equipped and comfortable. Excellent blackout blinds. Ideal location for cycling, walking and good food/vineyards.
The garden, setting and home looked so peaceful and the high aesthetic & design was also obvious. The gardens were fantastic and the hot tub well placed. Perfect facilities for a relaxing, self-sufficient and enjoyable stay.
Lovely location and views. Enjoyed the secluded nature of the property. The design and style was very relaxing and welcoming. The bedroom was lovely, very comfy bed and a great bath. The outdoor hot tub was a welcome addition. Overall we really liked the property.
The location was great. Close to many places we wanted to see and yet it felt very remote and so peaceful. Great to ‘come home’ to. Birdsong is the only thing you hear. Beautiful big sky and great walks.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have also found inspiration from your exquisite interior design! We are sad to leave but do so with warm and happy hearts.
Thank you so much for making the cottage so welcoming. It felt lovely to be so secluded, yet so cosy indoors. It is the ideal spot to explore Rye add the surrounding areas. We are returning home after a peaceful and relaxing weekend.
We had a lovely short break, exploring Rye and Dungeness and the beaches of the marshes. The cabin is a delight and an ideal location for an early autumn retreat. Thank you very much.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Romany. Peaceful, private and beautiful - just right for us.
