Travelling into Cornwall by train was a lovely experience; endless coastline and dramatic seascapes built up the suspense. Was Mousehole and our little holiday cottage going to be everything we wanted it to be in a magical honeymoon? After the joys of our very special wedding day, my husband (written very excitedly!) and I were quite overwhelmed by our first impressions of The Old Pilchard Press.

Mousehole can only be described as a real ´treasure´! It was as if we had stepped into our very own private holiday area; wonderfully untouched by commercialism, very inviting and just beautiful. The local people were friendly, relaxed and seemed serenely happy.

On our first night we went to a fantastic restaurant called 2 Fore Street. The weather was looking rather glum, with rain forecasted, but we braved it and headed out to eat in their gorgeous garden. As predicted, it did start to drizzle, but a lovely couple promptly offered to share their umbrella as not to ruin our evening. We thought "what a great start and perhaps a sign of lovely things to come for our honeymoon”. We were not wrong; we ate at nearly every venue in Mousehole and were very impressed by each one.

Having somewhat of a private beach was also rather special. We donned our swimwear on many occasions to enjoy early evening swims, it was such a great, clean and safe environment in which to indulge in a little dip. We spent the best part of an hour in the water each time and loved every minute!

The Old Pilchard Press was both visually and technically amazing. We were very impressed with the attention to detail throughout our little home from home. It was so warm, cosy and comfortable. We were thrilled with the sound system as we both love music and it really added to many relaxing evenings spent with a glass of wine either on the sofa, laid in bed or in the roll top bath tub!

One of our favourite evenings, we would both agree, was spent eating freshly caught fish and chips on a bench in the harbour listening to the Mousehole Male Voice Choir, whose concert we just happened to stumble across by accident! It was truly magical. As the sun was setting, I was sat next to my new husband, listening to their melodic voices fill the harbour. This was a feeling I´ll never forget, it was very special indeed.

Unique- yes it really was! Home- well, that´s what we called it! Stay- yes please!

And… we both lived happily ever after!
