Luxury self-catering accommodation in Mylor

This pretty village in west Cornwall is close to fashionable Falmouth, but its hidden location makes it perfect for boat-lovers, with cyclists favouring its green lanes and walkers seeking tea and cake.

Sitting at the mouth of Mylor Creek, this maritime hamlet enjoys all things sea-related; with a yacht harbour, boatyard, sailing school, and churchyard populated by many late sea captains. The church is steeped in history and makes for an interesting visit as the proud owner of a 17-foot-long Celtic cross, discovered during a 19th century restoration. Mylor Harbour has a sprinkling of marine-themed businesses, cafés and restaurants, and nearby Mylor Bridge is a similarly coastal village with a popular pub, The Lemon Arms, providing refreshments.

You're never far from water in the Carrick Roads area, and surrounding creeks and inlets mean that many touring the waters moor up here and wander into the pubs for a break. Hearty hikers can scale Restronguet Hill, cutting across the headland until the thatched roof of the renowned Pandora Inn comes into view. This 13th century, low-ceilinged public house sitting on the edge of Restronguet Creek is bursting with character and is a must visit. Though Falmouth and Truro are near, many choose Mylor just to watch the world go sailing by.
