Luxury self-catering accommodation in Sennen Cove
With its sweeping golden sands and sparkling blue seas, this is one of the most unspoilt corners of the UK, a natural haven just perfect for a peaceful break away. Any further and you'll be in the ocean, as the village is about as far west as you can go.
By the time you've reached the wild west of Cornwall, motoring through romantic moorland and past old tin mines, you'll be ready for sweeping ocean views, and Sennen has these in abundance. Just around the corner from the most westerly point of Land’s End, this village has a working harbour and a breathtaking stretch of beach. The town retains the feeling of a bustling fishing village with its port, shops, pubs and restaurants, but the pace is relaxed and the beach is long. A promontory protects the cove, and the old lifeboat station is open to visitors.
Coastal walks yield a bounty of natural beauties here, with wildflowers edging the paths and wild birds nesting. Look out for guillemots, cormorants, shags and fulmars, and scan the seas for a glimpse of the Isles of Scilly, several miles offshore; a day-trip from nearby Land's End airport will allow eight hours of tropical exploring on St Mary's. Back on the mainland, the cliffside setting of Cornwall's open-air Minack Theatre is not far away so booking a seat under the stars is inevitable, but bring a cushion – these rocky benches aren't as soft as indoor theatres.
